Try stocks. It's much easier to make money, it just doesn't yield as much. You get dividends though, good for long term.
Otherwise regarding crypto just be an early buyer and sell as soon as you deem you made enough profit. It's a gamble but it's better to miss out by selling too soon than lose everything when you bet on a shitcoin like ripple.

I've been there mate. Have had a lot of bad bets and fell for a few scams.

Now I try to get really deep into the community of a coin, and read up on the developer and what he's doing. If there isn't enough info for me to decide, than I don't buy. I've learned my lesson on jumping the gun too many times.

Research also can't just be trying to find buzzwords in the whitepaper. You have to understand how things work.

Best case scenario is when you can actually contribute to the success of the project, like getting in on the marketing team or Dev team. Then you actually have some control over the success of the project and will likely have access to info the public doesn't have.
