The only way to have made it easy during summer was to put like 1-3k in each shitcoin like CAP, XOR, ESH, STA and then move your 50k stack to Ampl and wait patiently for it to pull a 100x, same for YFI to pull a 1000x
Problems with coins like ESH and XOR doing 1000x was the utter lack of liquidity. Great investment opportunity for shrimp to turn into dolphins, but that's it.

After that if you want to go from dolphin to whale you absolutely needed to ride the BTC, Ethereum and LINK longs with futures and spot. A 10% movement on LINK or ETH on a 10x would immediately make you a 100% and you could try to exponentially grow that seeing is BTC, LINK, ETH did nothing but crab up n down with 10-40% movements.

UNI was a godsent as big as Ampl, YFI and YFI clones due to pulling a 4x which you could have longed 5x on Binance and then shorted 50x once they opened futures.
YFI clones were a god sent too because they had both the insane 100x gains and the liquidity above 3 million for each one. Oh yeah using futures on YFI and YFII.

I've been in crypto since 2013 and have cashed out a couple times already. I threw some money in back in March just for fun. Patterns seem to be repeating themselves so I just trade based on that. Put your money in BTC and ETH and you'll set yourself up for good returns in 2021, trading shitcoins is a ruthless game. Follow the news of every coin that pops up on this board and track how it's performing over the course of several months. Read all the white papers you can and eventually you will be able to see similarities between the legit projects and the pump and dump scams. You have to be your own bullshit detector, you can't rely on anything you see being posted by anons. I trade small mcap coins just to accumulate more BTC and ETH, I hardly ever hold past doubling my initial. After I have made money off of a coin I don't go back to check the price. I don't give a shit if it went up another 10x or crashed, all I care about is the fact that I made money off of the trade. I constantly take losses but I also set price points so my gains have outperformed my losses. I would never recommend a coin besides BTC and ETH but the two that I'm tracking at the moment are XSN and QNT. Why ALGO?
Apart from not really good tokenomics, this is the projet that has the best tech compared to Ethereum. The verifiable random based consensus, the probabilistic approach, no forks, 1k tps Layer 1, 10k in the near future, decentralized and still upgrading. The inventor is M. Micali, also "just" the inventor of zero knowledge proofs and a turing-awarded researcher who worked all his life on cryptographics systems.
Algorand just took balls and a solid math-based approach and pushed what Ethereum is trying to "kinda do" with Sharding and ETH 2.0.

It will thrive IMO. I'm a dev, I recognised Ethereum as a great projet back in 2016, held LINK because of the same reasons last year.
Now ALGO because of it's so low compared to its tech.(bought at $0.1-0.2)

Algorand is the only real Ethereum killer. Although I kinda like both Tezos and Cardano

Just got to there from Link pump past $10. Still not comfy. Not going to be comfy until i can buy a house and not worried about expenses.

I think the real holy grail is to be profitable riding the waves of the big boy coins in normal market conditions, trading only a few times per quarter or so. There's enough volatility that you can average mid-single digit percentages per month if you're decent. $100k stack would yield $40k per year even after taxes. You don't even have to hope for a bull market to hit because that's just icing on the cake.
