I'm never messing with crypto again after this, this is so much of a headache. I just have some USDC and nothing else and it's trapped on Matric and I have no way to convert any of it to ETH so I can use it for whatever this gas fee is

Ya I don't, I didn't expect this to be so complicated but I bought USDC and didn't know Matic was different from the ETH network, now I've got all the money I spent trapped on Matic in my MetaMask and I can't move it or get it back because I don't have any ETH for gas that I didn't know I'd need and for some reason you can't just go "use some of this USDC to pay for the gas"

Man I've been googling for 6 fucking hours but "how do I convert USDC to ETH in MetaMask" just tells me how to swap on the Eth Network, there's nothing anywhere about why you can't swap the same way on the Matic network. Ok. I will help you out because you are literally retarded.

You are using MetaMask as a router to the matic network (I'm pretty sure you added a RCP and connected that way), but you forgot to add the "currency symbol" as MATIC, so all the fees and everything are displaying as ETH.

You actually don't need any ETH. You need MATIC in the matic network to be able to send your money.

You're using a sidechain so it makes all things complicated, next time just stick to ethereum if you don't know what you are doing.

Nope I did that, I put MATIC in the Currency Symbol box in the Network settings for it, and I have a "0 MATIC" token and then my USDC one below that. I can't do anything with the "0 MATIC" one and with the USDC one the Swap option is greyed out and in Send I can choose my USDC as the Asset, but no matter what amount I put in, the Transaction Fee says Insufficient Funds and Insufficient Balance under the Gas Price and Gas Limit and I can't do anything but Cancel. I googled the Gas stuff and it said I needed ETH...I don't know how to get it to just use my USDC, or how to convert USDC to Matic to use that(?)

Ok! That's great! So you know how to use the POS Bridge. I feared that you would send the USDC to an exchange over the matic network and then they wouldn confirm it because they dont accept deposits that way.
So the plan is basically this:

1. Get MATIC.
2. Bridge your USDC from the MATIC NETWORK to the ETHEREUN NETWORK.
3. Send your USDC to whoever you want.


Obviously, the most difficult step is the first one. If the faucet works and you get MATIC that way then you are set. But if it doesn't you may need to bridge MATIC from the ETHEREUM NETWORK to the MATIC NETWORK and then do the other steps, it may cost a few dollars of gas but it's okay.

ya this is what happened, when I went back to try to retrace my steps to figure out how tf I ended up in this mess I saw a "MATIC" logo under the purchase tab thing and was like oh shit well that's what happened...but there was no warning or anything that it wasn't the Eth network or I would've for sure chosen the Eth one because I know that's the common one. Matic testnet is not Matic mainnet
Matic mainnet is not ETH mainnet

This is real USDC on Matic mainnet, you shouldn't be using matic testnet at all

You probably need Matic on the Matic mainnet to bridge your USDC back to the ETH mainnet. Bridging probably costs a fee, which means you need ETH on ETH mainnet. You've definitely got some switching between networks to do.

Still waiting.. this is torture. On the plus side I’m amazed the transfer I’m getting this ETH for hasn’t timed out or sosmthing. It’s just sitting there waiting for more gas money
