2011. i started reading about bitcoin in 2010 and bought 2k worth of btc a year later. then i bought avalon asics (50 btc each) and even though they were mining 1.5 btc per day, i was living with my mom and she told me that i had to move them or she would kick me out. i sold them to local crypto companies at 150-200 btc each.
>>25109128
2 reasons
1) after having gone through 2 bubbles and losing 85% of my net each time, i never ever want to go back to that. so i keep a million for bear market times. if shit really hits the fan, i can cash out my usd into traditional finance and live on 50k a year off the million by investing in something low risk like stocks.
2) i can get relatively safe 10-30% returns with yield farming my stablecoins on sites like curve, swerve, etc.
>LINK
i bought LINK at presale and made enough off it (pic related). i think it's kind of too big to go much higher and i think there are better plays to be made.
>>25109174
algorithmic stablecoins. ESD/DSD
>>25109182
ESD, DSD, shorting XRP
>>25109187
i think it's highly likely that we will see BTC at 50-100k next year. i also think it's very likely that ETH and alts will not see much of these gains because most of the money going into BTC will be from institutions. as you can see from the statements by US treasury earlier today, BTC's risk profile is completely different and thus more appealing to institutional investors.
i'm extremely bullish on crypto and i think the next 4 years will make a lot of millionaires just for doing simple things like using defi protocols.

yes. but you have to adjust risk. if you're young, just slam it on super speculative stuff and then go more conservative as you increase your stack. one of these big bets will pay off.
>>25109264
that's true, i have a balance 100 btc worth though ;)
>>25109285
1) if you have little money, make super high risk and super high payoff bets. don't put it into something that's a sure thing like btc or eth. slam it, if it works out, great, now you can protect your stack by keeping your holdings in "blue chips" like BTC/ETH/LINK. if it doesn't work out, you can still make that money back because you're young and you have a job.
2) pick a few people that have a good track record of predictions to follow on twitter and read and absorb everything they say. try to think like they do and always consider their advice. examples of some of the people that i follow and always take what they say into consideration: awice, autismcapital, thinkingusd, zhusu, rewkang

it depends on what your life situation is, but i would recommend doing what i do because right now i have no other source of income other than crypto: borrow stables against your eth/btc on compound and farm them in battle-tested smart contracts like curve at 10-20% or circle's usdc yield program at 8.5% yearly. use that extra money to make super high risk high return speculative bets on shitcoins (/biz/ will help you with this i'm sure). this way you are exposed to both eth/btc which are slowly but surely going to go up, but you are also leveraging them to increase your stack in a way that can't really harm you if you miss. say eventually you find a GRT and hit it big. you can put that back into safe btc/eth and keep going. this is how i made it.

I always hear people say this is a zero-risk to add a 10-20% apy to your portfolio, but surely if ETH or BTC dips precipitously enough you get liq'd, right? Sorry if it's a stupid question, I just have a hard time believing there's this easy risk-free way to get extra yield on your blue chips. it depends on how much you borrowed. i never borrow more than 50% exactly for that reason-- i don't want to get liquidated in case the price collapses.

>Sorry if it's a stupid question, I just have a hard time believing there's this easy risk-free way to get extra yield on your blue chips.
of course it's not risk free. if you're farming 10-20% on curve, your pool is as risky as the weakest stablecoin. in most cases this is dai. but usdt can implode too and you will lose all your money. you can just decide if it's worth it or not.

>I'm also a fucking cynical brainlet who can't understand finance beyond buy low sell high, so most of this flash loan yield farming liquidity pool governance token defi weirdness goes way over my head and I assume because I can't understand it that it's all just another rube goldberg ponzi. i think defi dad had some good videos and so did chris blec. just immerse yourself in defi discords, telegrams, etc. try to read, discuss as much as you can and then it will be just a matter of time before you start to understand these things.

These kinds of threads are honestly priceless and are not done enough, thanks OP.

The way I see crypto is that essentially you get 3/4 year long bear markets and a 6 month or so bull market. Did your strategy vary on these cycles, assuming you made gains each bull market? Or did you manage to make money during the bear years?

Also can I get your opinion on Ripple's SEC case and how that will affect the altcoin market for this coming bullrun?

about LINK and am wondering if you are still holding any position (obviously I didn't see any in your folio) or if you let go of it all.

I bought in sub 5-6$ but lately have been tired of the dumping. I know LINK has utility and real world use but the valuation seems to be too high and I don't want to hodl forever if that's the case. I only have 777 left but have been debating just moving it into BTC/ETH for awhile. Do you see any reason in LINK's future for me to not just convert into BTC/ETH?

>Don't you think it's a bit late to join on the DSD train. What do you think about other decentralized stablecoins like MTA?
no. DSD is in their first ever expansionary cycle. it would be like getting in ESD a few months ago. i wish i had gotten into ESD earlier but it was kind of hard to understand. if i wasn't so lazy i would've been able to farm at 9% daily compounding interest for a month straight. people made millions off that. the harder part is surviving the contractionary cycle. might have to hold onto DSD at 0.60 for a while before you able to sell
>>25113021
buy them, stake them in LP/DAO. if price is >1, ESD is printed and the supply is expanded to a maximum of 3% every 8 hours. it does this until price stabilizes. if you're in the LP or DAO pool, you get ~1.5 or ~3%, respectively. DSD max expansion of supply is capped at 10% with 2 hours epochs. cash out before contractionary cycle or survive it (price will go below $1). by the time the price is back to $1, you can realize your gains.

>>25113129
wrong. i'm not even high iq. i just followed the advice of those who were smarter than me.

i'd just stack it until you had a few k and then slam it on random yolos.

yeah, this is more or less correct. but more like 2-3 year bear market and 6-12 month bull market.
>Did your strategy vary on these cycles, assuming you made gains each bull market?
it should've varied, but i was new and just held like the memes have told me to. it was very painful. i answered this here: >>25109459
this is why i hold stables now so that no matter what happens, i can survive the bear market without too much anxiety. it's really shitty to run out of money and have to start selling your crypto during a downtrend.
>Or did you manage to make money during the bear years?
i managed to make money in the sense that i still kept betting on ICOs knowing that the bull run would be back one day and it would pay off. one of these bets paid off greatly when i bought BZRX in presale.

>Also can I get your opinion on Ripple's SEC case and how that will affect the altcoin market for this coming bullrun?

not worth it. it's too experimental and too many bad things can happen.
the contract is one-way which means you lock up your ETH potentially forever given how bad the ethereum team is with timelines. you can make the same or greater returns if you borrow stables against your ETH and lend them out on various defi platforms. you can also move your ETH and sell it if you want to. not sure why anyone would want to do this.
