Professional advice.
$150k cash is an absolutely waste and you're a fool not to place it into an appreciating vehicle. Don't care what it is. Stock, real estate, bonds, whatever beats inflation and satisfies your risk tolerance.
One important thing that really goes before the former: if you have low quality debts like credit card debt or other high interest debt, pay that first, it's the best use of the money.
Imagine for example you have $3k on cards that you pay 15% APR on. Unless you can make excess of 15% on that $3k, it should paid off. Do that first. Then get a return on your money else you are losing purchasing power at about 2% annum. If you've got a mortgage or something, at say 3%, wouldn't rush to pay that down unless your risk appetite prohibits assets that can generate >3%.
I'm not a life coach and can't help you with skills.
>>25142890
Rub the right lamp to summon a genie, or find a crystal ball.
Plan for long run, statistically average returns because the probability is greatest that your returns will be average. Rule of thumb is 7% in stocks.

>> No.25143419

Also
>what stocks?
Buy a broad market index fund and hold it til you're wrinkly and gray. Simple as, it's easy to succeed and hard to fuck up. Gives you exposure to lots of stocks without outright owning them. Which means you don't run into balancing issues if you attempt to create an index representative portfolio. Wanna play with junk? Keep it at no more than 5% of your net asset value. Crypto falls into this category too btw.

Pop into /smg/ for a while so you start to differentiate the bullshit from the good advice. $150k is a lot of money and should protect it at all costs. Like i put in a previous post, maybe put $1k into a trading fund and trade for a year before even considering putting more in. What you want is a safe, boring and stable and a index fund will give you that.

Basically that, if you were managing your investments yourself and for whatever reason the fund loses 15% in a month, you may panic and exit your investments because you dont understand why, but a fund manager wont as he will understand the market and the rhymes and reasons why things are happening. Also the basket of investments in a fund should be pretty balanced and diversified

I meant 80% among multiple high caps but I see your point. Just worried about fees as the money I am willing to invest with is really low right now. I can't find anyone with any salt telling me not to use a fund, so I will probably just do that. I've got about 17.5k, I don't want to discount crypto but I hear mixed advice about it's validity. If I went 80%/20% crypto and then 90%/10% ETF/other stocks to fuck around with is that too ballsy? The only crypto I would touch is BTC.

Research it m8 and like with any product or service look about. Compare all the top investment companies around. You have the internet so it should be easy peasy to do.

> If I went 80%/20% crypto and then 90%/10% ETF/other stocks to fuck around with is that too ballsy?
Like another anon said 5% is best, crypto is a gamble. If you are happy with losing $875, then you should be comfortable with risking that amount to gain profit. Personally i wouldnt touch crypto, even btc seems like a massive pump and dump.

Anyways Merry christmas m8 im off to bed
