What is the mechanism for them being wrong? Calculate how you think we'll sink into deflation. Step by step, exactly.

Remember to account for M2, monetary velocity, the Fed, other central banks, and various governments given their current debt loads and fiscal challenges.

Now that you've done that, I'll answer your question and say you want to go with BTC over the other cryptos (though XMR is better later on as this plays out).

Stock market crash will cause the value of the dollar to rise significantly. If Bitcoin hits a stable level, it will be more attractive to then buy the bottom of the market.
However, a full blown economic crash that happens too soon after the March crisis will destroy the entire system.
If that happens I'm not sure what will be safe. Land, Gold, and Bullets mostly.
I think if you are extremely wealthy you'd have plans in place to benefit from any situation or at least be able to ride them out.
Prob some bitcoin, gold, and land while continuing to make more money in the regular market.

Look at our government right now and tell me it's the strongest. We're tying our hands fiscally and bureaucratically while fear of a virus and lockdowns caused by that fear are destroying the service sector again. Can we raise taxes or cut spending without risk of insurrection or worse? Can the electorate afford a decrease in US property valuations if the economy experiences a hiccup?

...at which point the Fed steps in to "provide ample liquidity". Notice how the 'rona crash only pumped DXY from 97 to 102? Or how it was flat and range bound from 2007 to 2010?

So the dollar's value never rises significantly. Because central banks have roles they play.

>will destroy the entire system.
Again you need to think of mechanisms. "It's the end of the world!" requires you to list out, say, "this asteroid will hit Earth on X date, its size and velocity will transmit Y gigatons of explosive energy directly into North America...", etc.

For example, having those mechanisms sketched out would let you know whether a deed from the US federal government is "land" or a tight knit group of 10 armed men is. Those are two very different investments.

I'm taking the TD Ameritrade options trading course. There were only 2 questions on this quiz I got wrong. #1...

First I thought that high dividends would increase the price of calls and decrease the price of puts because there is higher risk of early assignment of calls and lower risk of early assignment on puts since people want to own the stock to get the dividend.

Second time I thought high dividend stocks usually crab and have low volatility so the premiums on both calls and puts would be lower.

Apparently this is the correct answer and it has something to do with the value falling after the dividend is issued.

Yes, numbers can be big and scary. Everyone from Bloomberg to ZeroHedge earn their money off those things garnering attention.

Now realize the unemployment rate is where it was...around 2013. After years of recovering from the 2008 peak. Granted, 'rona's a higher peak but had a much sharper recovery.

And similarly 40 million "at risk of getting evicted" is a pretty unremarkable 15% of the population being a month or so behind on rent. Until that doubles or triples, with "food insecurity" meaning "people have skipped one out of their past three meals", there's no unprecedented destabilization.

Life'll go on.

>>25182746
This is the other question I got wrong. I thought that an increase in interest rates would decrease the demand for equities and cause a selloff which would decrease the premiums for calls and increase the premiums for puts. Also, the cash that would be locked up as collateral for a put would be better off in bonds so the price of a put would have to rise to compensate.

Money velocity has literally tanked 40% since corona retard. And the government will continue doing what it always does, which is collapse some schmuck countries economy while taking big bets against it and then stepping in to buy the rebound in economic growth, ala Greece and turkey and Italy. Meanwhile printing off more debt because we are the only first world nation with enough growth to warrant such a large appetite of debt we literally need to buy our bonds because every other country is so insolvent they cant afford to take on more debt.

The government will never seriously consider things relative to inflation - a facade of no inflation must be maintained because Social Security and spending is tied to it.

Consider that CPI, the US measure of inflation is calculated based on subjective assessments of the quality of a good. If the price of something goes up 50% in a year, we can simply say that 49% of that is attributable to increased quality and conclude there is only 1% inflation. Can you imagine if expenses actually had to correlate with the increase in education, health, and consumer goods inflation? The state would collapse or you'd have people asking the wrong sort of questions about the monetary system.

Why not send her kids to public school? Diversity.

Now the NYC schools are not going to prioritize admissions for those who live in the school districts in the name of forcing diversity into the "good" white school districts. So even if you live next to the school, your kid might not be allowed to go to said school so a brown person could be shipped to your kid's district school in place of your kid

I went to Sidwell and it definitely looks better on a resume but there was also generally better quality of education. Like we had to read more Shakespeare and stuff. Also the college counselor will straight-up phone Ivy league schools and just tell them to accept students (who are already competitive, my dumb friends still had to go to dum-dum schools). Not that I needed that since I got all 5s on my APs. Also my friends were all way richer than me.

I see what you did there. Jokes aside, if anyone in this world want to see all of any one race genocided (white, black, jewish, asian, native-americans/eskimos, etc.) people like us will find people like them, and correct them over time. It doesn't have to get physical (and we prefer it does not), but everyone on this planet will have to know someday that our species is all collectively together in the long run.

That, or maybe I've been watching The Expanse too much and I don't see us as individual races within humanity, but as Earthers (Terrans) who will eventually have to stand up to threats outside of our planet's atmosphere.

Remember, our Human Race is in this together. Anyone who is against this will be taken care of.

I think Colombia has like 70% out of wedlock birth rate, which is crazy. Imagine if 7/10 births are to a single mom? In the US we have like 40% for white women and it seems like everyone knows at least one single mom. Now, imagine Colombia.

I agree to a point, but even assuming your anecdote has a large amount of truth to it, that would be merely a statistic and not an expression that every person with that idea has to hold. More important are the facts that Japan's a nation of savers and that the USD/USTs being the global reserve/safe havens puts the US in a much more fragile position.

Neo-cons were commie Jews who loved Trotsky but hated Stalin.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_York_Intellectuals

>The New York Intellectuals were a group of American writers and literary critics based in New York City in the mid-20th century. Mostly Jews, they advocated left-wing politics but were also firmly anti-Stalinist. The group is known for having sought to integrate literary theory with Marxism and socialism while rejecting Soviet socialism as a workable or acceptable political model.

>Trotskyism emerged as the most common standpoint among these anti-Stalinist Marxists. Irving Kristol, Irving Howe, Seymour Martin Lipset, Leslie Fiedler and Nathan Glazer were members of the Trotskyist Young People's Socialist League.

>Some, including Kristol, Hook, and Podhoretz, later became key figures in the development of Neoconservatism.[1

Until you start getting down into what that means for debt consumption. Inflationary theorists believe the fed purchasing bonds is an inflationary feat because it means the government is printing more money, when in actuality it means the US ability and appetite for debt has just outstripped all available lenders. We are a growing economy, and we will continue to grow, and we will continue to finance that growth with deflationary pressures like debt.

>USD puts the US in a much more fragile position
Yes you are extremely right, which is why we cannot afford to directly inflate our economy as much as we want to, another deflationary pressure. We cannot afford to print off everyone money like Canada without absolutely tanking the world's reserves. Once again, an argument for deflation not inflation.

Maybe I'm a little slow in the head, but it seems contorted to claim that the government, say, making a $100 social security payment by borrowing $50 from investors/abroad and having the Fed print/monetize the other $50 is somehow *less* inflationary than the government borrowing $100 from non-Fed sources.

It's all well and good if the monetary velocity drops or economy grows enough to support that newly printed $50, but the latter case seems more deflationary than the former.

It's not less inflationary, it's just not more inflationary. Its simply that foreigners can't afford to buy more of our debt or they would, they would print off money to buy our debt to finance their own growth. So instead we just simply borrow from our own printing press, rather than from China or japans printing press. Countries can make this work if they actually see growth like we do, unlike countries who print to buy their own bonds but have seen no growth/demand increases for their currency.
