China responds to most problems by building projects even if they are pointless. US will likely talk about an infrastructure project in the first 100 days for Biden. It is considered an "easy" bipartisan proposal. Such proposals dies under Clinton, Bush, Obama, and Trump. But if it went through US steel companies would moon HARD (since national projects usually require only domestic producers for supply)

Not late but you have more downside risk if the thesis doesn't pan out.
CLF and X are the US plays. VALE is the "international" one. There are many more steel stocks but those are the ones discussed most often. X and VALE also have a LOT of institutional interest (which can be good or bad).

Been thinking about what stuff is going to go up when the pandemic is over and we start reopening. Seems like there's no reason airlines shouldn't go back up to their previous price (which they've held for a pretty long time, according to JETS) when things start going back to normal, which I expect to be this summer sometime. So I'm thinking about buying some JETS, since I think it's probably underpriced.

So.. imo (others may disagree with me) if you're just starting out trading, you may want to consider using a broker like Webull, as it'll allow you to trade premarket, without being too complicated. It'll let you look at level 2 data / get your trading footing, without being overwhelmed.
Long-term however, you should be learning to use thinkorswim from TD Ameritrade
Trade with webull, and learn how to use thinkorswim client / use their paper trading first and find success before moving your account over
Using a 'lesser' broker will be like using training wheels when learning how to ride a bike

You won't really be able to daytrade with less than 25k cash balance. That limit is set by the SEC and not by the broker (assuming you are in the US since you brought up TDA).
Day trading is dead for small time folk because of computers, algorithms, and HFTs. At best you can try to swing trade but it requires far more patience, discipline, and calm than most anyone can afford especially if that is all your money.
Unironically you'd be better off just throwing most of that into an index and have a little percent of it try to "trade". This isn't insulting your intelligence here. Most people go way too hard in too early, get burned, than leave.
Don't pay ANYONE for "tools" or "educational resources". They are probably scams.

They make no money and have weird side projects going. Unless Tesla or something partners with them, or they become a popular choice for "environmentally responsible manganese" (maybe Apple?) they'll have a hard time as they have no one to sell their product to.

I have a small position, I'd love to see it moon but imo its a bet on a partnership.

Honestly, most active traders here are terrible and have worse performance than someone just holding ARKK long term or someone carefully selecting a bunch of high performing growth stocks. Options are basically leverage with time decay and added pitfalls, if you're not profitable without them then using them will only make you go broke faster. You should probably stay away from very short dated options anyway because it's the closest thing to pure gambling and I recommend you avoid them for now.

Another thing is that the easiest way to make it is just having stable income and letting investments compound over time, the more you try to make ebin gains the higher the chance that you're going to fuck up and lose your money which is what happens to a large percentage of people. It's not as easy as some of us make it seem, most people here that are highly profitable are just inherently good at it and most people don't have the personality or the rationality to make a lot of money trading regardless of their efforts.

Day trading by strict definition is making your entry and exit during single trading day, no overnight hold. Swing is loosely used to describe active trading involving hold periods greater than one day with overnight holding expected, often a few weeks hold up to a few months. Swing usually does not involve much or any cost averaging. Long hodl "investing" is picking stuff you think will grow because fundamentals and regularly shoveling money in to those positions to cost average, holding long time.

I agree, and I've beat the fuck out of the market myself, but they've studied retail traders and the vast majority of them either lose money or under perform the indices. You have to detach yourself from confirmation bias and realize just how many people that come places like this, lose money, stop trading, and never post about it. The ones that remain long term have above average ability or are just lucky. There are people who are just inherently very good at trading or stock picking, they're rare.

In the simplest terms:
When you SELL something, you dont actually get the money for TWO DAYS.
When you BUY something, you don't actually PAY for it until two days.
Same thing with options, but its the NEXT day.
Your broker keeps track of this. They should have a place where you can see "Settled Cash" which is how much you can trade with and not worry about a violation.

Well, dutch friend, what you did was basically try and time pumps. That usually works until it doesn't. Glad it worked out for you, but you need to be more flexible and not rely on a "strategy", that's the basic wisdom, I guess. Approach each trade as its own game, always be able to answer the question "why am I buying this?". If the answer to that question ceases to be true, it's time to sell.

You made double my gains last year (I made almost 50% full 2020 just hodling and small swings) so congratulations on that.

The uncertainty of demand recovery is the asymmetric gamble you are playing. But the stocks have far less downside then they do upside and volatility makes covered calls decent if you skeptical.
