https://www.businessinsider.com/heres-what-happened-to-stocks-during-the-german-hyperinflation-2011-11
continuing from last thread it looks like the German stock market went from about 500 marks to 100 billion marks after hyperinflation. Meanwhile the amount of marks required to buy an ounce of gold went from 1340 marks to 87 trillion marks after hyperinflation. Again, that's about 500:100,000,000,000 for the stock market before:after and 1340:87,000,000,000,000 marks to buy one ounce of gold before:after. Stocks:gold percentage gains ratio is 20,000,000,000%:6,492,537,313,400% so dividing stock gains by gold gains:
Stock gains were 0.3% of gold gains

So, unlike this anon >>26006249 said, the stock market effectively ceased to exist after the weimar hyperinflation.

The analysis of stock performance during the weimar hyperinflation done by JP Morgan (linked at the top of this post) makes no mention of gold and silver, of course

Honestly my personal approach is similar to what you just described. I plan to have my mining stock dividends be issued in physical, as well as perhaps take some profits a little along the way to purchase more physical. Depends on what you think is gonna happen in the near future. If this >>26011160 happens, mining stocks won't do well because they are traded on the exchanges like any other stock. And no, mining stocks won't perform better than the rest in that scenario because people will be getting out of paper and into real money, not mining stocks or any other stock. In that situation, you don't want counterparty risk: dollars are counterparty risk, stocks are counterparty risk, etc. and when people are getting rid of that risk as fast as they can in exchange for commodities, you will be able to buy much less of those commodities with your paper because nobody will give you their commodities in return for paper

This is what I’m expecting, too. I’m tempted to buy more, actually. Rick Rule has discussed the irony in how people look for sales for everything else they buy in life (food, clothing, cars, etc.) but when it comes to stocks, we avoid companies that are undervalued and buy when they’re overvalued. I’m guilty of falling into this thinking myself but am slowly changing my mindset. BHS looks very appealing at a 12m market cap.

No, mining stocks are an asset, like a house. What you say here is untrue. >>26012848 Mining stocks went up 100s or 1000s of times in the highly inflationary 70s and 80s. Once you have your physical bullion hedge, the first place where you want to be in a currency crisis is mining stocks. Mining companies will be the new central banks post-fiat. If PMs soar mining stocks will necessarily follow, because every dollar which is added to the price of PMs is pure profit for the miners.

If gold goes up, miners must follow, it's that simple. If the ounces which you are selling become 10x more valuable then your cash flow will directly correspond, and so must the valuation of your company. Even if all fiat currencies went to zero, the miners could pay their dividends in physical metal (as Resolute Mining and Bayhorse Silver have already done, Keith Neumeyer intends to do, and as the miners commonly used to do). Unless you think that the world will become a communist dystopia, stock exchanges aren't going away, and every country on earth isn't going to nationalize its miners. Even in the Great Depression, miners didn't get nationalized, and Homestake Mining (the ancestor of Barrick Gold) went up by 600%.

>>26019737

When we get to $30 silver and $2100 gold these miners are going to revalue so quickly and so fiercely to the upside that people's hair will stand on end. Until then market dislocations like BLLG are to be taken full advantage of, and all short-term noise ignored.

>>26019885

Turn off your computer and stop obsessing about the price movement every day. The volatility and dumping on the COMEX is supposed to upset you and shake you out. Simply ignore it. By the end of the year, gold will be at least $2300 and silver $45. They cannot keep a lid on this for long.

This is how junior mining stocks work. If silver goes down $2, your stock goes down 25%, if silver goes up $2, your stock goes up 25%. The leverage works both to the upside and the downside. These miners are going up 100s of times at $100+ silver, so if you believe in the PM thesis, simply don't fret about the price movement every day and stop checking your portfolio. Dolly Varden is the safest stock that you could possibly hold so if you believe that silver is going up there is no reason to keep thinking about the price and upsetting yourself. Best thing to do would be to forget your miners entirely for the next six months.

>>26020659

You want to have at least 10-25% of your net-worth in physical bullion, simply because that has no counterparty risk. So if there is WW3 and every miner in the world gets nationalized and life comes to look like a Fallout game, you will always preserve your wealth. Other than that, I don't see anything the matter in using mining stocks to build physical, whether by collecting physical dividends or by taking profits on miners and immediately buying metal with the fiat.

WallStreet is preparing for the next stimulus package: hype fueled stocks will do another rally while the rest of the economy is still in lockdown.
PMs are being dumped to buy stocks before the stimulus. The rest of the economy is frozen, so the negative effects will only kick in when the lockdowns are released and stimulus stops (there might be another one during the spring).
I.E. PMs will keep crabbing until later this year.

>> No.26021376

>>26021004

Don't remember the financial situation of SVE immediately, but IPT and DV are equally safe, the only thing that differentiates them is jurisdiction. Both IPT and DV have excellent properties, no debt, and a lot of cash. DV has 44 million proven ounces, and 100% ownership of one of the most important silver properties in history, with four past-producing mines which produced tens of millions of ounces of high-grade silver. So if you buy DV, all you have to do is sit patiently wait and for the silver price to go up. Same thing goes for SVE, which has 50 million ounces sitting on leach pads, and IPT, which is already a producer and whose property has produced about 1 million silver ounces a year for the past 500 years, from the time of Cortez onward. The sole thing that matters in owning DV, SVE, or IPT is the silver price, that's why they are "core."

I think the only other stock which strikes me as "core" at this point is BLLG, simply because the stock has dumped to such beyond-absurd levels that it seems completely derisked. Every other stock which I like has some sort of caveat attached to it.

BHS: Graeme O'Neil must prove production despite letting people down during the past few years

IRV: Covid lockdowns in Japan might prevent drilling

NIM: Heavily in debt

SSE: Might not have the 120 million ounces

AZS, AZT, MTB, GIS, VML, FWZ, CNX: Depend on good drilling results

CCW: Questions about the competence of Frank Basa

TK: CEO pays himself an obscene salary

ELO: Has now run up a lot

BSR: Located in Guatemala

ESM: Might not get the permit

KS: Management-team recently dumped a colossal number of shares on the market, failed to communicate until recently, stock price has run up enormously

VGLD: Will soar so much when it gets unhalted that there will be no time to buy in

I believe that all the above stocks are excellent bargains and will provide the opportunities of a life-time in this PM bull market, but when it comes to say (DV) there doesn't seem to be any caveat attached; you simply buy it and sit on those ounces and that property and wait.

Yes, the less money you have, the less diversified you should be. You should find the few companies which you truly believe in and bet on them deeply. You generally don't want to have less than $1000 in a mining stock. So somebody who has only $10,000 should not own more than 10 miners.

There's a lot of cheap stuff on ebay because it's all fake in some regard, or the clarity/quality/color of the gemstone is terrible. The cut also matters a lot to any collectors or jewelers because the way it's cut matters a lot to the how the color and shine of the stone comes out. If it's not done right, you end up with dark spots on the edges of the stone or worse, you can end up with "windowing" where you just see straight through the bottom of the stone and that's always sad.

If you're looking to invest in something more unorthodox when it comes to gemstones, you can generally do it with rare mineralogical specimens. I almost bought an $8,000 aquamarine that came from Afghanistan. The size and clarity is what made that one special and I probably could have flipped it for more than what they were asking in just a few years.

A large share count can put investors off, because it indicates that the management have been disrespectful to their shareholders in the past. A small share count can be advantageous insofar as it makes a stock move up in price much more quickly. For example, that was how Callinex soared in such a short space of time. It's a question of supply and demand. Although on the other hand, a small share count also makes a stock less liquid, so it can make it much harder for you to get out.

If the miner thesis holds, then miners will outperform PMs vastly, so money which you put in miners should get you more gains than what you put in physical. GPR should run farther than FR, and also has assets in another jurisdiction (Brazil), so you might want to buy some even though you have less than $1000; but continuing to invest in FR isn't necessarily a bad idea either.

Beautiful Engelhards man. I more of a classic J&M guy but can't deny the allure of the Engelhard name.

Also people bitching about Gold not doing anything amidst stimulus announcements.. I was personally expecting a test of $1800 if people were really flocking out of gold and into cash for the inevitable "melt-up" appreciation that all this extra cash will create.

I'm personally thankful that we haven't breached $1800 yet. If we do, you can count me in for another gold maple lol

The deflation meme is a banker psyop which goes back to the days when gold was only $300 an ounce. They meddle with the CPI to promote it. As I have said here before, in WW1 Germany, the currency expanded by 400%, but there was no price inflation, because people were so anxious about the war; a circumstance which proves that hyperinflation is a psychological phenomenon. The bankers are anxious to prevent that psychological phenomenon from becoming widespread, and so leading to Mises's "crack-up boom." The broken economy of the 70s and 80s led to staglation, not deflation. Even in the Great Depression, which was deflationary, and where stocks crashed by 90%, gold nearly doubled, and Homestake Mining went up by 600%. Indoctrinating you with false fears of "deflation" + causing extreme suppression and volatility on the COMEX is supposed to shake you out and make you sell your PMs and miners. The prices of lumber, copper, zinc, silver, gold, oil, food etc. since Jan. 2020 prove that "deflation" is not happening and will not happen.

Deflation is nowhere in sight. Biden's not even in office and he's ready to BRRRRRRRR even harder than before. $1.9T on the table when they have the House, Senate, and Presidency? The only thing they'll have to worry about is buying more money printers with printed money.

I would love to see how anyone thinks deflation could even possibly be coming. $15 minimum wage on the table, $1400 for everyone, +$400 unemployment through September, eviction moratorium through September, and once we hit August they'll just announce an extension thereof. Hard times are coming. Don't have your money in money.

Warrants and options are pretty much part and parcel of the share count, simply a more hidden aspect of it. When there are too many of them, a stock price can be buried beneath them, and require a lot of so-called "chewing" or "churning" before it moves higher. Sometimes they are given to employees as a justifiable reward, at other times they are used in a predatory manner.

Chris Marcus (Arcadia Economics) has some videos on buying options on the silver miners, especially FR, so you might want to have a look if that interests you. Personally, I don't play with options on miners. If silver is going where we believe it is going, then small-caps will be going up 100s or 1000s of x in price. Even $1000 might turn into a million. So there is more than enough leverage already in the small caps. FR isn't a small cap ($3.4 billion mcap) so silver would have to go to something like $800 for it to go 100x, but I'd rather sell FR and buy a small cap junior than play with options on FR for more leverage.

>>26025207

Yes; they are good for the people who have them, but for everybody else, they are an obstacle. They weigh the stock down. Predatory companies like to give a lot of options to their employees.

David Brady is more credible than Chris Vermeulen as a chartist.

https://www.sprottmoney.com/blog/Stimulus-on-Steroids-Cometh-David-Brady-Jan-14-2021

"Recent comments from several Fed members regarding the taper of monthly monetary stimulus seem disingenuous at best, given that the Fed will be required to buy the majority of the new treasury bonds issued to finance that fiscal stimulus, especially as tax receipts fall. This comes on top of a truly gargantuan amount of existing treasury bonds maturing this year.

The Fed will need to buy most if not all of this debt to avoid steep rise in bond yields. Higher interest costs to the treasury could expose the risk of insolvency in the United States, something the Fed will do everything to avoid.

With massive fiscal and monetary stimulus to hit the U.S. this year and the need to cap bond yields, the biggest casualty is likely to be the dollar. This does not mean that the dollar can’t see significant short-term bounces, but the overall trend is likely to continue to be lower. Such a backdrop is only good for precious metals and miners, especially if inflation expectations rise while nominal yields are capped. The resulting decline in real yields would also support higher Gold and Silver prices.

...

There is further downside risk in the short-term, but the longer this correction takes and the lower we go, the bigger the catapult shot to the upside thereafter. Massive stimulus and an asymmetric risk to the downside in real yields make such an outcome highly probable.

..

In conclusion, we could suffer more pain in the short-term, but given that the forecast stimulus-on-steroids is now pending, it won’t be long before we are focused on how high we could go rather than where the bottom is."

GV's problem is that he chases stocks after they have already gone up. I was telling people to buy Klondike when it had a $10 million mcap, but I told them to sell when it went 4x and never recommended it again. He moved Klondike from "small" to "big" when it went 4x and caused all his followers to buy in at 6x or 7x before it crashed. Same thing is true of Vangold. I was telling people here to make it a core position when it was in his "speculative" section; he has moved it to "biggest" only now, after the El Cubo deal has halted it.

The CEO James made an allusion to the fact that he was in talks with another company for solving the mill-question, don't remember the video but it was an obscure one with only 1000 views. He left a number of hints. Besides which it was already an utter bargain because

1) The stockpiles at El Pinguico are worth more than the mcap;
2) The Veta Madre might intersect the property, and has produced 1.2 bn ounces of silver;
3) El Pinguico used to be the most productive mine in its district, and was abandoned only because of the Mexican Revolution, not mine depletion.

It's a short term surge now that the effects of the last 'stimulus' are starting to wear. I learned from an old weed smoking jew that used my labor to make crazy profit. I'd cut a large $25 rough synthetic stone and he'd mount the thing on a gold ring that cost him $700 to make back in 2012 or so, sell the damn thing for $1200. It's possible, but people tend to like their stones already mounted on stuff, though you can build a good relationship with other gold/silversmiths and source to them.

In general, natural gemstones will cost more to source from miners, but the cut stone depending on how well you make it can sometimes more than double whatever you invest. If you want to practice, go with synthetics that way you're not sweating bullets when you're learning because you've reduced a $500 emerald to something that you can't salvage. The aforementioned website carries a "laser gem" which is just boro-silicate glass. Cheap to produce, great practice material and they come in fun colors.

Get a good mid level machine. They're expensive for a starter if you want to facet stones, probably around $1500 to $2500, but you will save yourself hours and hours of headache since the cheaper machines won't hold the stones correctly and then you end up with weird curved or crooked facets. These machines usually come with a set of dops (those funny sticks they wax or glue the gemstone to).

Next are the laps. You'll need a cutting, pre-polishing and a polishing lap to make your work quicker. I used to cut commercially instead of for competition, so I used steel laps with 360 grit -> 1200 grit and then a tin lap polishing with 14,000 grit diamond powder. If you ask different faceters what they use you'll end up with just as many different answers. Find what works for you, this will probably get you up and running quickly though.

I'm interested in having my mining companies provide me my physical position for years to come, and use my current limited capital to continue buying mining shares. As a bagholder, I would not buy any miners right now unless you're going to dump them on monday after a rebound

gold and silver are looking to crab for a while and you'll just be bagholding. Maye when silver has 3 green days in a row thats your buy signal

You know I don't get it. I really don't. We've pretty clearly established that $25 is a Bottom for silver for about the past year. That is an explosion in price from even a year ago. The miners haven't even had that priced in yet. All of their Financials show estimates of twenty dollar silver. They're making an extra 25% unprecedented profit and the market has not reacted AT ALL. This is fucking crazy land. The price of their commodity went up near ten bucks and nothing has fucking reacted. This is ridiculous. Meanwhile if silver goes down 2% then spread your asshole because a big fucking rip dump is coming through. This is just crazy. I hate this fucking shit.

>> No.26033078

>>26032754
It is bizarre, but we are in the beginning stages of a multi-year, perhaps a decade-long bull market. Patience here is key. I guess as a society, we're used to instant gratification from things like online shopping with next day delivery, dating apps where you can click like and be in someone's bed in two hours, etc. But this requires a different mindset, and the confidence of that mindset comes from relentless research of the economic fundamentals. When you've got a grasp of that, you'll almost come to appreciate dumps in spot prices and mining stocks, so you can accumulate cheaper.

There really is no other option besides failure. We may be able to run on fumes for another couple years, but that 10 year yield has been creeping up, and that is a signal that a massive crash could be imminent. There will be more money printing, sure, but there are diminishing returns with that in terms of keeping yields low. And you're just diluting the currency into Monopoly money at that point, thus causing price inflation and continuing to expand bubbles. So, whether its a crash or hyperinflation, precious metals and miners are the place to be. This investment strategy will ultimately prevail, but crabbing could continue in the short term. This is just a prime opportunity to accumulate.
