What's up. I know nothing about stocks and I'm in Canada. Can I join in, or do you need to be American to trade?

What app is everyone using to buy and sell? I wanna dump some spare cash into this. I don't really care if I lose it too much.

Just forget about it Anon, I'm in Canada too. The Wealthsimple app is the closest you can get to Robinhood, with 0 commission fees. But It takes 3 business days to transfer funds to your account so you'll be shit outta luck by the time that money arrives.

After registering on WS I even opened a second TFSA w/ BMO InvestorLine, but that too takes a minimum of two days to transfer funds.

I am kicking myself so hard right now. This was a once in a lifetime opportunity and I missed it. I'll always be poor. Even literal 20 year old brown children are getting rich off of fucking GME and I'm staying poor because of these stupid bureaucratic companies refusing to GIVE ME MY FUCKING MONEY.

I think it just means you want to buy stocks. After you register with one of these platforms, usually the next step asks you what kind of bank account you actually want to open with them. You'll get options like TFSA, RRSP, and another one that I forget the name of, but it's something like just a "regular" account. Get the TFSA, you don't get taxed on that and you can withdraw the money anytime you want it. But keep in mind that you can put a maximum of $6000 into TFSAs for the year and withdrawing money from the account doesn't reverse this so if you put in $2000 then take out $2000 from your TFSA, you still only have $4000 more that you can transfer in there before the CRA assrapes you.

WHY WHY WHY

Like actually, what retard thought it was a good idea to make it impossible to instantaneously transfer money into an account you use for trading financial products that change in value on the order of seconds? You would think they'd make it as fast as possible so their clients can take advantage when an opportunity emerges. APPARENTLY FUCKING NOT.

Why is it I can go to the store and buy a pack of cigarettes and the money instantly goes from my bank account to the store's, but when I try to access my own money it takes half a week?

I am sort of in your position and thought Wealthsimple was the way to go with 0 commission, but I have run into some problems.
First is the the google play store would even show my phone the Wealthsimple Trade application. Then when I tried to get referred to the play store application via my phone's browser the download button was replaced with "Your device isn't compatible with this version". So now I have to either get a new phone, get an apk repack (unsafe), or spoof android on my computer because one can only add or remove funds on the phone application.
Second I have been trying to get a bank account paired with Wealthsimple Trade but it kept having problems. I phoned my bank and its no problem on their end so I went for a manual pairing, which apparently may take 5 days. Since I don't want to wait that long I have retried the automatic route and now I have been sitting at a verification screen that "may take up to three minutes to connect your account" for 20 minutes.

Just to clarify, the wealthsimple process time of 3 days is only when you transfer outside money into (and out of) WS, but the trades themselves are instant?

If that's the case it doesn't seem like THAT big of a deal. Yes it's retarded and shouldn't be like that, but realistically we only have to suffer once for the initial investment.

Also I'm pretty sure if you sign up with your current bank's investment platform, it's much faster (within 24 hours). But they rape you with fees. I'll do the wait and use WS.
