It's amazing how quickly people forget the last revolutionary L1 in favour of the new revolutionary L1. For the number of "ETH killers" that come out it's amazing ETH still exists.

For what it's worth I have nothing against AVAX specifically, I would be happy if it succeeds at scale in the same way I would be happy for any L1 to succeed. A more powerful L1 moves the whole space forward, and being all-in LINK it doesn't really matter which L1 is in the lead because whichever one wins will probably use Chainlink anyway.

But I am skeptical of the promises of any untested ETH killer. I remember the huge promises of projects like IOTA that barely get discussed any more. I also understand that launch hype is usually followed by a long development window where the excitement fades. Couple this with AVAX's poor token distribution and I don't see it as a particularly outstanding investment in the short term.

In addition, in an L1 market that has Avalanche, Polkadot, Radix, Dfinity, Hedera, Algorand and many others squabbling for the same pie, I would urge anyone who is keen on investing in a L1 to at least be aware of how congested and competitive this particular aspect of the market is.

You can YOLO in and hope it lives up to most of its promises, or you can wait and see if Ethereum contracts actually start to get ported over on a large scale. The risk is that you might lose a few multipliers buying in in a year's time, but at least you will have a guarantee of market share. On the other hand if Avalanche doesn't manage to live up to the hype it will join a very long list of forgotten revolutionary L1s that didn't do what they claimed to do at launch.

And that's all assuming there even is an L1 race still to be run after Arbitrum sidechains come out on Ethereum in the first quarter of next year.

It's true for BTC and ETH, but those crypto don't do anything, and are very insecure store of value for many technical reason (PoW is fundamentally slow and centralized, eth2 docking is risky and expected in years). Avax and ada are more serious long-term, and should be much more stable as a result.
