I don't program smart contracts but I program apps that interface with them, which is what grt is primarily for actually. Grt sucks. They only index event logs and transactions (although they do do internal txs which is difficult and cool), whereas they don't touch the state and storage tries where the vast majority of data is (that's a very difficult problem that wluld actually be worth a lot for a solution). Most contracts nowadays avoid emitting events as much as possible because they are expensive, you need to watch the storage tries directly to extract all the important data from a contract.

As a programmer, all you have to do to use devIL is import code into your source (loosely speaking here).
