There's a bunch of the dude. J. Mintzmeyer(?) is one of the top shipping analysts, even though there's only like three of them. He is a must read if you plan on getting into shipping of any kind. Also, there is currently a rate boon for cargo container shipping. So be wary of buying a top in one of those companies.

up significantly on STNG now. Got 5k in STNG options too. My DHT is a net gain but not impressive. The taxes on EURN made it a waste of time but I think the CEO knows that now and will just do share buybacks(mostly).

Just reentered into a STNG position, lot of upside potential. Thinking about taking up a position in either ASC or TNK for the same upside. But may go to FRO or DHT for the divies but rates for VLCCs are still shit so I might just wait for the immediate hype to pass to buy a long position.

DHT has time charterers into Q2 but then they get opened up into the spot market. DHT's management has performed excellently and they eliminated fully ~45% of their dept in 2020. TNK is shit IMO

As expected. DHT is a solid company.
>TNK is shit IMO
Really? I though they were getting ready to clear away a lot of debt, plus they had a decent aged, and large, mixed fleet. Granted, I haven't done my DD since late august of last year, so maybe corporate changed up the plan or their fleet isn't good for the current market.

>> No.28531570

>>28531434
they got a lot of crude tankers and crude rates are likely gonna be dogshit longer than product tankers. Also not many of their fleet is scrubber fitted. The spread between fuels is gonna get huge when oil prices spike.

>So far all reporting shitty earnings. Pump perhaps a final fakeout?
Nah. Think this might actually be the bottom, or the bottom was reached a little bit ago and now the upward trend is starting. I have little faith, but it seems like both retail and institutions are now earnestly taking up long positions.

That's very true. I need to go back through and redo my DD for the current market.

STNG's presentation is very bullish.

I don't think it mentions the increase in steel prices and shit rates making scrapping increasingly attractive too.

>> No.28532060

STNG is standout product tanker pick. DHT is my crude pick because they timed the last cycle close to perfectly. Scrubber fitted models are already commanding a decent premium due to the spread. I think its only gonna widen

What's your opinion on ASC? Had them as a buy awhile ago at 3.00, but they got off my radar and have since skyrocketed to $4. I know debt was an issue, but they have a young product fleet and have been able to derisk.
