There's a way to buy without needing Binance. Use the Binance Bridge web site along with the Binance Chain Wallet extension. Once you've set up your BSC wallet, connect it to Binance Bridge and send ETH to that wallet. It will pop up with an option to convert some ETH to BNB for gas on the BSC network. Choose 0.5 or 1 BNB. Then it'll show an address to send your ETH to from the Ethereum Network
