I know this isn't "Geology General", but I was wondering if you lads could help me identify this large rock/mineral vein sample. I bought this rock out of a woman's yard during a sale this summer. She said it had been put there by her uncle, who was a "collector of oddities", years ago. The center of the vein is some kind of rusty red mineral, surrounded by darker spiderwebbing. There are also some clusters of clear/whitish crystals. I only have a basic understanding of geology myself and I don't really have proper testing materials, but if there's any other info/photos/tests that would help, let me know. The rock must weigh at least 50-75 pounds. I nearly threw my back out getting the bastard up the stairs. ASE for scale and relevance.

Dundee Precious metals. Operates in stable eastern europe, is priced as if its in wartorn africa.
Sits on a pile of cash, beats expectations for 2020, raises targets for 2021 to 290k oz, lowers AISC for 2021 to $650.
Again this company is going to mine 290k ounces of gold at about $1000 per ounce profit for a total profit of 290 Million USD and is valued at 1.16B.

On top of this it also mines 36 Million pounds of copper and has a smelter.

Only 'downside' is that it's only gold and copper and no silver but the valuation is ridiculous.

I loaded up on platinum today. I already had a bunch. Now 5% of my portfolio. Why?

Platinum has traded on average 1.25 times the price of gold from 1980 till 2015.
Returning to this alone would mean $2200 platinum. But i think we'll go back to a peak ratio of 2.2xGold which means 4k platinum, but probably by then gold will have moved to 3 or 4k, which could see platinum as high as 9k.
T
Remember that platinum is the preferred metal over palladium for car catalysts. They used palladium en masse because it was a lot cheaper ten years ago but car companies need to design new catalysts and this cycle takes a few years. You can bet your ass that the catalysts that will be built in the next five years will be a lot more platinum heavy due to this switch.
On top of this, you have absurd requirements in the EU and China for emission standards, which is what fueled the rhodium bull market.

As an added bonus 80% of it is produced in south africa which due to intense niggerfication is on the cusp of imploding. A drop in production due to south aftican chaos could really cause a black swan in the platinum market.

we're both right

cyanobacteria dies and the minerals rot out of the flesh and are re-deposited by rain water moving through cracks in the rock.

it has a biological origin rather than coming from magma or other rocks like normal ore deposits. We know this because it usually only contains the minerals found in marine organisms and no other metals like you'd find in a normal ore bodies.

there are cases where both can be found- biological metals and metals from magma. Park City, Leadville, and The Witwatersrand are all examples of marine limestones with the normal biological iron and manganese that later had metal ore bodies deposited in them.

also the pyrite he mentions is of biological origin as well. Just another variety of iron from bacteria and other plankton.

It gets confusing because I oversimplified

in real life the bacteria, diatoms, plankton, etc die and make up the rock. The entire limestone is made of dead microorganisms. So all these organisms contain iron, which gets washed out of their bodies and deposited in cavities in the rock such as fossils or cracks or whatever.

Like you get mildly acidic water that passes through the limestone collecting metals from the dead organisms that form the rock. It then dissolves shells or rock forming pockets where the iron and other minerals are re-deposited. It's a lot of steps and it can happen in different ways.

yes there a tiny exploration company focused on the "Silver Basin" near Trout Lake BC. Their primary target is the incredibly high grade "Foggy Day" prospect, located along the ridge line of Silver Basin. The property is at an extreme high altitude and only thaws out for a few months of the year. The site has been worked on and off for over a century by artisanal miners after extremely rich gold / silver ore in quartz breccia material. Previous mining was done with simple tools, no ore carts even, just wheel barrows and packing the ore out by hand. There has been limited drilling in the general area of the Foggy Day but none directly on the target due to poor weather always hampering efforts. It could easily be a fantastic little high grade small scale mine, but its very early stage yet. The operators are small scale too, but very well known in the regional field.

Its exactly the kind of tiny little high grade mine I want to find actually.

I am convinced its a shell for sleezy dealings between china and regional players in south America and east asia. I found two projects that were associated with AABB, but do not show up on maps or on any other documentation. If anyone else wants to have a look and correct me that would be great but so far i ve not found anything that makes me think thats a legit company. If you have a stack of 100k shares and you want to dump all at once, you will move the spot price significantly down and your order probably won't get completely filled. This is because it's a thinly traded stock and has low (((Liquidity))).

Investment firms choose to trade in SLV and GLD because of the massive liquidity. If they wanted to buy Bayhorse shares they'd moon the price of the stock 200x just by buying in and they'd never see a profit.

The only people buying bayhorse are poorfags basically and you have a risk of a whale or (insider) dumping his shit and plummeting the stock.

+ they'll probably dilute away your profits anyway.

realistically the coin is worth about $2500 to $4000. by 2093 (100 year anniversary) and after the other 2499 copies get lost, it's anyone's guess but probably $10k+ assuming gold is the same price as today

Uh.....if what we think is coming actually happens, you will be so wrong. People will be scrambling to buy whatever they fucking can. You do realize that bayhorse shot up like crazy with all the other silver stocks during that Monday squeeze. Every stock starts off as low liquidity garbage, your argument is invalid.
