An index funds buys literally the entire market so that the returns you get are in line with the market as a whole.
The investment strategy is to buy and hold forever, and your position grows in pace with the economy. It is by far the best performing investment strategy.

Index funds, depending on what index they hold, have to re-balance (they do this at different times) where they increase / decrease their position size to reflect the current size of each respective company. So in this case, GME is a bigger share of the overall market (having gone from 800 mil market cap to like 2.6bil or what ever now), so these funds all increase their stake in GME. That's why they all bought around the same time, but this samefagging schizo thinks this means theyre all somehow in kahoots and are going to drive GME to the moon.

There are many different "funds" but most aren't actively managed and just are rebalanced to reflect the weighting of each company in the fund itself. When a company's share price increases a lot, the fund manager will increase their holding in the company to reflect that change. This is so that the fund is always yielding the market's return.
Some of this might be actively managed funds where the manager is rebalancing based on what they think the worth of the company is. But just saying "x company has 7 trillion dollars under management and they bought GME" is not an investment strategy.

You may also note that Blackrock and Vanguard have 7+ trillion of assets under management but equity of a few billion only. They manage other people's money by investing it into the market as a whole so the client can get the market's return. They are NOT trading with $7 trillion, and places like Vanguard don't even trade at all.

Since they they fall into the category of having to report acquisitions within 10 days, the latest they could have acquired or increased their positions would be 2/2 to 2/6, well after the supposed "squeeze", or the sudden increase in price. So why acquire new positions, increase existing positions, or even hold through the drastic increase in price? Even if it's to reflect changes in the market cap, shouldn't it have been done earlier?
