Any people from 2017 here? What was the top like? Did it go to 20k and then crash instantly or was like it crabbing there a few weeks? Because if this were a bubble, shouldn't it have popped already?

>> No.29057040

Look at a fucking chart you retard
Read about "blow off tops"

>> No.29057055

Why don't you just look at charts from 2017 and figure it out for yourself?

Jezus christ... in the previous bullrun btc was at 20k for maybe a couple of minutes in total. I think it managed to stay above 14k for about a week or two. But don’t take my word for it. Look at the charts yourself you lazy fuck

i started taking bitcoin as payment around 9k and i can tell you it was over WAY WAY faster than this shit.

i remember watching it steady grow not knowing anything like holy shit every day the money kept going up then it hit 20k and slowly fell down and i just shrugged and stopped caring

it felt like it went from 1k to 20k to 3k in the blink of an eye

What's a good resource for seeing past chart data at a sensible timeframe? Where I can put in a range of dates and see the 1 day/4 hour/1 hour charts for that range. Most of the sites I know only let you see e.g. the last 1 year or all-time, which isn't so helpful.

>> No.29059776

All the drama over the last year has helped keep BTC under the normies radar unlike runs in years past. Most don't even realize where it is compared to the last time they heard about it, and probably regard it as a scam or drug money still.

It was instant, barely touched $20k before instantly dropping like a rock.

Top was like how gamestop was but instead of gme they said btc.
One tweet from a Kardashian is not enough. One news appearance on CNBC is not enough. Taking these to be top indicators is a naive expression that discounts the actual scope of manias. It can get way more exuberant and way less rational than you imagine.
>Did it go to 20k and then crash instantly
No but it was obvious it was happening after it failed to consolidate at $9k as it had after each milestone. It just went straight to $19.9k from there. Then it fell back, tried again, couldn't break $20k. Took maybe a week or two
>Because if this were a bubble
It is

btc at 20k a few years ago was absolutely the sign of a bubble. Nowadays, with GME, the whole world trading, institutional interest, etc, there is no upper bound anymroe

Nobody could believe it when BTC went above 6k. The real mania started after we hit 10k. 20k wasn't even reached, the peak lasted for just a moment. Honestly, this run feels way different. I was expecting much more volatility, but nobody is fucking selling. Tesla buys in, major banks about to start fomoing in. Alt-season has barely begun and it's already ridiculous. And we're not even close to the mania of 2017. It's amazing.

>> No.29061474

It took roughly 4 days to go from 20K to 14K, and about a month later it was 7K.

hahahahaha. oh man, you are so fucked when it does pop.
just do yourself a favor, set price-take targets, and sell them as you meet them no matter what. 1 year into a bear market, you will really thank yourself.

If you're so retarded you have to ask an easy to look up question, you should probably be buying and holding rather than trying to outsmart the market perfectly by selling peaks and buying dips.

the top is when everything goes insane for 3 days the price will 3x and everyone will be euphoric

if it's like 2017 we will have two tops tho

>> No.29066460

it did not crash instantly. i remember looking at the charts and seeing the bear flags distinctly in the consolidation on low timeframes, and i was tracking it as it broke the parabola. i did not expect it to dump to 10k though so fast, it was brutal.

i think after about 16k it started being very volatile and i thought that was the end, and then it just shot up to 20k and it all got quite still for a short time.

back then everything was mooning. riches were falling from the sky. everything was surpassing our wildest dreams. based on that we are a long way away from the top of this cycle.

It seemed like an endless rally, was glorious. No bear threads, 3 LINK threads at all time, moonshot shills were half what they were. When BTC cranked 20k it began a slow bleed that I'm pretty sure 75% if people thought would stop any day now. Huge learning experience for me and many others... very happy to see BYC not only crank the 50k psych barrier but also stay there, granted there's a shitload of institutional cash in it now. Back in 2017 the big banks and media were going out of their way to FUD and dismiss it, there was some new Jamie Dimon interview ir article written everyday. He changed his tune but obviously not til it hit more tenable prices

>> No.29066910

og here this attempted push to 50 and then finally breaking 50 in the last few days feels much more sustainable than BTC at 20k.

There was much more media craze and every HR recruiter at my NYC startup was talking about the price of BTC. I dont sense as much media attention this time around right now. we need to push 75 or something for the same effect i think

Dude, we spent NINE MONTHS rising to 10k with many 30%+ dips. Then after blasting past 10k, we experienced a fucking face melting rally to 20k in 2 weeks flat with an insane blowoff top and crash back below 14k. The last major pump of the rally saw thousands of dollars of gains in minutes. I was sitting in a Walmart parking lot out of town staring at my phone in disbelief, I can still remember the entire day. It was fucking insanity, felt like you were in the matrix. Everybody was too busy picking up their jaw off the floor to even comment on the price action.

Anyone who thinks we are even close to that right now has no fucking clue what they are talking about.

I remember the part where he practically called his own daughter a financial retard for buying BTC. I wonder how she feels about that now that it's at $50k.
