It doesn't work like that. If you were to make a trading strategy based solely around RSI you will fail, HARD. It would be more like
>if you see 4hr RSI is above 70 for a sustained period
>10yr yield has overextended / flight to bonds is likely
>DXY has sold off too hard / is likely to bounce
>there is overall bullish sentiment in the markets
>there is a 'buy the rumor' event going on, such as new stimulus
>oil is getting bid higher
>earnings that week are going to be good
>economic data expected that week is going to be good
there are 1,000 factors other than these I'm listing
when you combine them with seeing RSI being overbought, and you also closely watch price action, you can make a much more informed decision on when to pull profits / go short to catch a short-term dip

If the RSI above 70 had predictive power it would be possible to make at least SOME money just with that edge even if it's only right 51% of the time for an equal TP/SL.

Who said anything about trading a 51% advantage system? I just told you if RSI predicted price drops with at least 51% accuracy then you could make money off of it. If it loses you money then it's not predictive of anything, at least by itself (and you used it by itself when you explained the drop in SPY, you didn't mention anything about it giving a signal in combination with the DXY or the 10 yr yield).

would algos prefer buying when RSI is above 70 overbought, or below 70? below. they don't want to buy overbought assets. smart money buys on red days. it adds to the selling pressure and decrease buying pressure when it crosses, you can see it in effect here:

That's the problem with TA. People explain things after the fact willy nilly with their cherry picked indicator and ignore all the times it did not work in the past. With subjective stuff like trendlines or S&R that's fine because it's hard to test systematically but for something like RSI and TNX or DXY correlations it should be easily possible to test its predictive power statistically.
But I guess I'm a newfag for not knowing an overbought RSI causes the market to drop, duh. Whatever lol.

>That's not how that works, and there is no crystal ball.
A variation of the line that every trader peddling a trading room or trading course uses. Oh, nobody can predict the market, but you can make money without predicting the market if you play the odds. Well determining probabilities is predicting. Weathermen predict the weather by assigning a chance of rain. Value investors predict companies will outperform the market based on fundamentals. Technical traders predict whether the market is likely to go up or down and place a buy or sell order.
>People sell around those levels often because it is a very commonly used practice with that commonly used indicator.
If more people sell around those levels (for a constant amount of liquidity) then you should be able to predict whether the price will go up or down a certain % from that level with >50 accuracy.

You deduct capital losses from capital gains so it all balances out to a net $0 if you lose back everything you made as far as taxes go. If you're super based then late in the year you hold onto your biggest losers until late december, realize the loss, and then don't realize your big winners until january so that you have capital losses you can carry over into the next year and your gains you don't have to pay taxes on for a full year once you've realized them.

CFD's aren't options, it's essentially swing trading.
A broker gives a share a buy price and a sell price based on the cost of the stock, the sell price is lower than the buy price.
If you are shorting a stock when the sell price reaches the price you chose to short it at you start making money (the other way around if you took a long position). You choose how long you want to hold it for (even over night although there are additional costs).

Now here's where it gets interesting, you are offered leverage (up to 5000X you're account have 3K in my account and I short 1000 palantir stock at $25 with 100x leverage which is 2.5K the price only needs to increase by 5cents for a $500 loss which triggers a margin call where I need to put more money into the account. The position will be automatically closed if losses reach half of the account $1.5k if palantir increases by 15cents.

>> No.29120076

>>29119939
Yeah CFDs are the same as buying on margin except the legal structure is different (you don't actually own the stock but the broker is contractually obliged to pay you as if you did) and you can get nose bleed amounts of leverage like 100x or 500x.
