The shit going on in Texas is going to discount the entire sector, however the big companies have zero liability at all because ERCOT, a non-profit organization manages the electrical grid and they, if anyone, are liable. This sort of setup makes for some easy acquisition opportunities when business returns to usual. You aren't going to get huge moves, but you're going to get some very high probability small to medium moves. Done correctly, you can make your quarter (at least) on opportunities like this.

I don't know what convoluted autistic, unnecessary example you're imagining, but this is how RH margin has worked for me. They gauge your account on how risky your playing.

Try it, open an account and buy 1 share of TQQQ and see how much margin you get and then buy ARKK and see the difference. Then trying holding all high and all low risk positions. They cap total buying power based on this, and it fluctuates based on your behavior.

Look at pic rel. I bought ALL LOW and then rotated into one medium and got access to more than my actual equity. When I sell CCs my margin access goes up, when I buy contracts my margin access goes down. There's tons of internal algorithms at play
