Most option buyers never intend to exercise, they buy in for volatility or covered call purposes. If DFV has 100 shares he can sell a call for whatever price he likes and if somebody buys that call, he is paid that premium. If the option expires out of the money, he keeps the premium and keeps the stock. If the option expires in the money, he sells those stocks, 100 at 800 and the premium. Only thing you risk losing is the initial investment.
