Fractional gold can be very based especially if you need to barter with it in the future. Very necessary given the value of a single 1oz gold coin being almost $2,000. Fractional silver is a fkn meme, 1oz of silver is too cheap to justify buying less than 1oz. Even if silver skyrockets you would've lost so much value from premiums. Hard enough to find 1oz silver sub 15% prem. fractional would make it even worse.

wow, you are clueless. we all have to start somewhere i guess.

1) silver prices arent high, they are at historically low valuations.

2) when supply for a good decreases, demand will only decrease if there is another good with the same utility that is cheaper and can act as a substitute. in the case of silver, there is no substitute which is more affordable and provides the same utility. therefore, industrial demand for silver is inelastic(meaning if supply decreases, and if demand stays the same or increases, price will increase)

Because I'm smart enough to think about it more than a minute. In a normal society, you work for money. Money represent your purchasing power, you got it by using your time, which is your life expectancy. Savings represent your future purchasing power.

By going into crypto, you are putting your past life expectancy into a volatile, non-physical and no-backing asset. Its already funny enough if you invest your life force into crypto for gains, but imagine a retard telling me that crypto is the fucking future monetary system and foundation of society. How braindead do you need to be to trust this garbage ? How little self-respect towards your own life do you have to do this shit ? >. we've had decentralised finance for thousands of years. its called physical precious metals.
No.
The coin based economy should've crashed (historically speaking) around the time when the roman empire was founded. Every emperor since has reduced the pm content in coins and eventually they even started asking for payment in goods. This is the shift to the feudal economy where coinage was rarely used and most payments were made in produce. (Sheep, horses, wool, cows, grain etc.)
The feudal economy dominates for the next few thousand years and then the stocks are invented.
PM is not decentralized at all. Who owns the mine if not the king or a lord? You are not even a citizen, you are a peasant. You cannot own a mine, you cannot own land, you do not pay fixed tax rates. It wasn't even legal for egyptians to own gold for most of their history for example.
To use egypt as another example, they usually paid workers in grain according to the value in shat.
The only people who could read or write were nobles, priests and scribes. Still, despite being one of the most literate countries to exist at the time, only up to 1.5% of the population were actually literate. This is not decentralization.
Maybe read a history book anon.

Yeah. However, if Moore’s law actually ends like it seems it will, the hash power will over time distribute away from China again since their manufacturing advantage will be gone.

So it’s just a matter if BTC can survive until then.

The one that spooks me the most is the quantum computer threat actually. I think it is closer than any crypto celebrity would ever admit.

PMs threats are much further out, like economic fusion or economic deep sea mining or whatever. Crypto has a timeline of years at most IMO.

Wrong most payments were made in coins especially in cities. And in early medieval people didn't really bartered only used alternative currencies like copper iron furs.
>PM is not decentralized at all. Who owns the mine if not the king or a lord?
Minting was centralized but coins were used interchangeably across borders. Gold florins and ducats or silver Prague groschen were used in whole Europe. People didn't cared what type of coins you had they cared only about metals content.

Personally, I like my stack in the real physical tangible world. I can't lick a bitcoin. If things go squirrely you can at least burn paper cash or use it as stuffing. What can an electronic line of code do?

im gonna get something around 20k soon and set my mind on buying gold bros but I feel like buying it on a bank seems like a better option. Yeah its not REAL gold but if banks are going down nobody is gonna be buying your gold anyway. You can sell it instantly if it skyrockets at some point and dont need to deal with places going 'dont have the cash right now'. Any thoughts into this matter? Also is it a good time to get into gold nowadays with all the coin shit going on

Ah, I see. Yeah, then it's like MDM in Germany or IMM in Austria or Amserdamse Munzontoor or something some dutch anon mentioned.
I don't have any experience with them, but from what little I have read, their silver or gold contents are apparently legit (though they also have loads of 333 shit, that's probably a really hard sell), it's just that they're insanely overpriced, have shady business practices (reccurring payments) and pretend that those things are going to rise in value.
I'd bet that this thing cost at least 2000€ when new, probably more like 5000€.
How does the asking price for it compare to spot? 925g of silver should be around 700€.

Well, with current premiums, that would be not too insane, if it were a legit dealer and a legit kg bar, but unless this thing really has some numismatic value (lol…), that would be way too high for me. I'd try totally lowballing. If it works out, you got some ugly piece of silver for cheap, if not, you don't have to wheight your stack down with some ugly piece of silver.
But it would make for some fun pics, if you'd get it.

How about we go back to letting our stack pose with funny card games?
