29979365 No.29979365 [Reply] [Original]

I've been doing a deep dive on this token. I like the idea of B2B overnight lending but I can't figure out what the actual role of the token (eRSDL) is. Reading the white paper and listening to interviews with the CEO it appears that the token is literally just a "pass" that allows commercial banks licence to use the network...but then why even bother with the token, why not just get them to pay a licensing fee in fiat? Is this a boomer coin that is just using crypto as a way to raise capital or is there an actual use case and intrinsic value to the eRSDL token that I haven't figured out yet?

this essentially has the same problem as prq, the money from the license fee will likely come from fiat (in order to ease integration) but will be used to buyback the tokens.
Since b2b lending platforms are actually quite expensive on the banking space, the buyback strength will be considerable, taking into account the 10 expected lenders by eoy, should appreciate the token and all its holders alike, paying for further operations and marketing.

>>29979549
But why even have the token, why not just have a legal contract representing a licence and accept fiat for it...why introduce the extra variable of a token?

Its a way to source capital into funding the company. Howard once said they went with this approach to not deal with Venture Capitals and the like.

The whitepaper has a couple mentions of the use of eRSDL also as a governance token in the future, similar to other defi lending platforms.

"The eRSDL token described herein is required to be held by participating Lenders in
order to activate the protocols. Much like Certificates of Public Need (“CPNs”), or for
example, taxi- cab medallions, only a finite number of these tokens will be produced.
The eRSDL token allows for certain voting rights, use of open source protocols, and
myriad other rights and privileges."

So it would make more sense to view eRSDL as a security, then -- like buying shares. It isn't a utility token because the network they're building doesn't actually require it. They might not admit as much because the SEC would be all over them yet it seems like that exactly what eRSDL is...

I sort of agree, but they have been avoiding all the clauses of the Howey Test so far, the way you could shape this is buying shares of a decentralized platform

Such a solid use case as a business platform, it's hard not to want to be invested in their success -- I just find it tough to throw more money into it when the tokenomics are so sketchy.

>> No.29982090

that is usually the case with services in crypto (GRT, PRQ, AAVE), most of the world is already too used with fiat, so bridging fiat and crypto is still a work in progress.
To be honest, im much more worried if Howard is going to get any considerable traditional lenders to the space, the opportunities that can come from this are huge.

All UFR needs is 10 SME's to get onboard and then the platform could go exponential. I just hope they manage to make the tokenomics integrate successfully with the platform itself.

That's kinda what I was wondering...in all the interviews the CEO and CTO both explicitly make comments about how eRSDL is a utility token almost as if they know the SEC is watching them. But it seems to me that eRSDL is basically *only* a security, it actually has no utility at all.

other projects such as quant use the token for license purchase and lock-ins, too. something about it being safer and unhackable? idk. but it's a legit utility and not a problem. quant in particular deals with the entities such as ecb, the boston fed, or sdx. it's fine/

Hoping to see them address some of these concerns over the next couple of months. If they can do that and build interest in the platform then this is the best low-cap investment out there. Easy 10x if it all plays out imo

Ya I don't rely on my eRSDL stack to make it because its only 10% of my portfolio. It's just tough to know if I shouldn't increase it further at these low prices. UFR has literally zero competition in this space for its specific use case...yet there are real risks too; the tokenomics could very well fail, the SEC could shut 'er down, etc.

CTO just posted this elevator pitch on TG:

We are a banking product software company. We have designed a credit for cash spot market using blockchain technology. Our network of over 200 non bank mortgage originators have need for our liquidity platform. Expect to see 40 billion flowing through pipes by EoY. Partnerships with tech providers and pilot banks already in place.

Ya, not sure. The white paper isn't very impressive, desu. Listening to the CEO and CTO interviews is what makes me bullish more than anything -- on the platform and business model, at least. Tokenomics are the major problem with this eRSDL, but I think its still worth getting some skin in the game on this one because they've found a market niche that no other crypto platform is attempting to gain market dominance of.
