With Robinhood allowing 0DTEs and the GME meme it might be a guaranteed 5-10% or so to buy Friday morning and sell ATM calls. I wouldn't be surprised if most of this share buying was just smart people wanting to sell calls to dumb people. You could sell a LEAP and make a pretty sure 50% doing nothing else for the year. Also look at all the Open Interest for Jan 2022 $1 puts lel. Someone saw free money selling those. A lot of interesting plays coming out of GME.

Nice dubs too

Lets talk about hedging risk /smg/
https://www.alliancebernstein.com/abcom/segment_homepages/defined_benefit/3_emea/content/pdf/introduction-to-tail-risk-parity.pdf
Here is a .pdf about risk parity vs tail risk parity, basically traditional risk parity fails during black swans events/left tail events due to to the fact that correlations between things like stocks, commodities and real estate increase. So traditional risk parity is great as long as the down turn isn't great, but fails when it is. Also, traditional risk parity also limits the gains from right tail events, meaning it's got a pretty big drag on a portfolio.

If you skip to page 13 of the pdf I linked, you'll tail risk parity has the lowest drag on a portfolio as well.

So the question is, anons, how do we find securities in order to hedge our bets using tail risk parity? I only have a pretty simplistic understanding, so if anyone can explain this to me better, or link me to resources that can, I would greatly appreciate it.

I am also just considering buying LEAPS on the vix when it drops below 20. This would provide decent insurance with a reasonable premium.

I copied this dialogue between two anons some threads ago

>Anyone who advocates for longing SQQQ or something similar for hedging is a brainlet. Buy far OTM SPX puts dated for 2023+. 2500 strike or lower, this is what the Fedora-tipper of the trading talking heads Nassim Taleb advocates for.

>Basic problem, if that's what you even want to call it, is that it's like a once every 7 years you hit the massive payday and have to sit through mostly losing trades even though it has a massive positive EV. Most people can't comprehend it or don't have the patience

>His tail risk strategy would have still yielded you great returns literally last week, and a few weeks before that, back in September, etc. Minor corrections still greatly benefit your tail risk strategy position. The key is to wait for VIX to drop below 20 (18-20 is realistically ideal range) for you to buy SPX LEAPS puts so that you buy it when volatility is at its lowest. Then, when mini-corrections like we saw the last couple weeks arise, you benefit from vol spike which produces asymmetrical returns on your hedge positions on the SPX puts.

>As long as the strike price is 30-50% below current price? Then, correct. Tail risk investors believe that there’s a “volatility tax” that prevents you from achieving the returns associated with compounding, that is, you make 10% in year 1, 7% in year 2, but -9% in year 3 which erodes your annualized returns. By following a tail risk strat, you might do 9%, 5%, but 6% in year 3 which would mean that even though you underperformed in 2/3 years, in a bearish year you severely outperformed which pulled your annualized returns way ahead.

I pulled out of nickel since I thought the world prices were retarded and is due for a correction and sold it 2 weeks ago. It was in the 5 year high iirc and TSLA starts dipping the following week and I was just looking for something to buy as I was with 55% cash for several days and saw oilCHADs posting, OPEC meeting coming up with prices dipping, Biden recent bombing, and then I suddenly threw money on oil and never looked back.

Every time I search for SPX they bring up unrelated ETFs like SPXL, which have way worse volume. You know these are very volatile times and currencies are vulnerable to high inflation. Perhaps you should rethink your risky positions and park some of your money into precious metals or consider getting a 30 year treasury note. The stimulus is not free money and has larger net negative impact on the economy at large that just causes more damage to the already fragile stock market. Stop being irresponsible for once anon, and listen to dave and schiff.

I consider farming subsidies a national security issue. We don't give those to farmers because we care about them. We give them subsidies so they can compete with agricultural products on the global market from poor countries, and knife the side of agricultural products from wealthier countries (like Australia). It is international economic warfare.

California alone produces far more food, and a wider variety of food, than a lot of those Republican-run states.
Most of those Republican run states only produce food like wheat and beef, while WA and CA alone produce a far wider variety of foods which are healthier (not to mention they have access to seafood). These other states do not really contribute to the agricultural economy of USA to the extent Democrat-run states do.

Most """family farms""" are just guys who inherited a ton of land and have no idea how to work it. They lose money every single year and rely on the government gibs to stay afloat. I know a guy who gets 230j in farm gibs every year. Big surprise he thinks people who want a higher minimum wage are freeloaders. We should let these people fail so the land can be managed by someone competent.
