Bonds are not priced based on market cap like stocks are. They come in denominations like $1k, $10k, $100k, etc. When issued they have a fixed, periodic income called a coupon. For example $10, $25, $400, etc. If you take the annual coupon and divide it by the value of the bond you get the yield like a dividend stock.

> $1000 value, $25 coupon
> $25 / $1000 = 2.5% yield

A bond yields that exact coupon rate every year for a designated amount of time. The length of time is called the duration. The time that this ends is called maturity. At maturity the bond issuer pays the current holder the face value of the bond.

Face value? This is where the value of the bond on the market divorces from what it says on the face of the bond. The coupon never changes but if interest rates change over the duration of the bond before maturity it will change in value if it is being bought or sold.

Before I continue are you following me so far?

Okay, so you have two values:

> Face Value or "Par Value"
What it says on the bond and what the issuer must pay at maturity. Values vary but are amounts such as $1k, $10k, $1m, etc. This value does not fluctuate.

> Current Value
This is the value which can change on the market if you are buying or selling.

So let's say you own a brand new US treasury bond with a face/par value of $10k, a coupon of $500, and a duration of 10 years. You will collect annual or semiannual payments of $500 for a decade totaling $500 × 10 years = $5k in interest. At the end of the 10 year duration when the bond matures you will also get the $10k as stated on the face value. The total value at maturity is $15k.

TBC...

Alright boys, Ill stop here for attemping to convey the implications of "LAC" prolly not getting to mine their estimated hype amount of 25% of the worlds suppy in nevada. Their sulfuric acid process is concerning shitloads of people and spawning more and more lawsuits. They were trading at like 20$ a share, on speculation of their ability to provide that. I speculate their value WILL CONTINUE TO TUMBLE. This fully explains Mr Paul Pelosi Jr joining ATAO (swapping the company from medical instruments/investments to miner) and hooking up with BRLL, AMLM, and renting land from OGS. I highly suspect LTUM (for their potential in pumping brinewater to skim then purify the lithium) is far fucking underpriced for just finsihing exploratory mining prospects in nevada. NOT ONLY that, they had 0 debt and 300k cash. I believe ATAO or someone else will assist LTUMS.

Can somebody explain this fucking blurb in a forbes article about coinbase IPO?
>Notably, in an IPO, a company going public typically issues new shares of stock to raise new capital. In a direct listing, a company isn’t looking to raise additional capital—its employees and investors are selling their existing shares of stock to the public.

Direct listings don't raise additional capital? What the fuck? does that mean they're only going public so that existing owners can cash out? Am I missing something?

Yes. It also generally means that there isn't a thorough audit from underwriters to determine the IPO share price. ABNB and DASH were "undervalued" relative to what the market immediately decided to price them at.
DRs are even wilder and more volatile than IPOs.

This market is so bullshit. 10 sept 2018 people were ready to pay 69.5$ for a share when trilaciclib (unique breakthrough drug to deal with negative consequences of chemotherapy) was in a early stage of clinical studies. Now it was approved and G1 is going to finally start getting revenue after all those years and millions of dollars put in research and people are willing to sell it for 19$.
The lowest estimate from analyst is 36$. Average: 55.8$, high: 78$
You could just throw some money at it and get x2 in the worst case scenario, x3 on average and x4 if lucky.
But muh 1.5yield bonds! Muh Nasdump, muh NBI.
Retarded boomers frightened by bond fud sell. Robots see line is going down sell. Emotional weak handed retailers panic sell.
I was talking about buying it for 25-27$. It was an excellent price than. Now it is 20.5$. It's so fucking cheap. This price drop is pure bullshit.

Cont'd

The Fed raises 10yr interest rates to 6% yields right after you bought. Your treasury bond with its coupon of $500 against a $10k value means a 5% yield. You want that 6% yorld so you want to sell. Why would someone buy your 5% yield bond for the same price as a 6% yield bond? They don't so you have to sell your bond for less than par value.

If we keep things simple again your bond issues coupons worth $500 every year against a par value of $10k for a yield of 5%. So in order to determine what price to sell your bond for on the market you take the sum value of your bond's remaining coupon value ($5k) and divide it by the new coupon rates ($6k) to get 83.33%. You multiply the face value of your bond by this quotient to get a market price of $8.33k. What is 6% of that? $500.

So who is buying bonds for cheap? If a trader buys your bond for $8.33k, collects $5k in interest for the next decade and holds to maturity as bondholder he will be paid $10k. He paid $8.33k and made $15k at maturity. That's an 80% gain in value.

trade within a certain period after session opens. For futures market is usually open 24/5 i.e. it is always technically "open" even between sessions but there is little movement at that time. Buy as soon as you see some trend movement on a 5m-15m chart. My biggest help here is either 1) stochastics chart 2) CCI or 3) Heikin Ashi candles (use with care). Some people use moving averages or Williams Alligator, which is also good if you know how to read it.
Practice it on a demo account 100 times first. Record every loss/win and see if you can turn profit with it.

Now consider the flipside. Treasury yields go down to 4%. You with your 5% yield might choose to hold but what if you sold? Well, 5% ÷ 4% = 1.25. You can sell your bond at a premium: $12.5k. You paid $10k for your bond and made $12.5k, a 25% gain.

So who's buying here? In this case the buyer is paying $12.5k in order to make $15k at maturity. $15k ÷ $12.5k = 1.2. The buyer paid a premium but they're still making a 20% gain by maturity. However, that's 2% annual simple interest which is a poor investment. OTOH they might turn around and sell if interest rates go down even further.

There is much more complexity to the world of bonds but do you understand the basics here? Any questions?

Explain.
I can teach you how to be more based/racist and lose less money in a couple bullet points...
- ya gotta switch up the racial slurs to keep the black man down. Otherwise, they try to do stupid shit like “taking ownership of words” like nigger. Try saying “porch monkey” instead next time.
- survivorship bias is a very real fact of this board. Those who are still here, posting, and green after a couple years are few and far between. How their investment choices differ from the 3 month old ADHD niggers is a statement of survivorship bias’s mark.
- don’t go bearfag. It loses on average in the long-term.
- don’t buy weekly options. It loses on average in the long-term.
- backtesting is good. Backtesting off a couple years of data is for ADHD niggers that get squashed like bugs under events like the liquidation of XIV. It should ideally be against 15+ years of trends.
- if hedgies don’t win long term against the index, and those faggots literally have Ivy League MBAs and spend 60+ hours a week, then why would you?
- leveraged indices are the only advantage you have against the index.

https://finviz.com/quote.ashx?t=SKT

literally the second most shorted stock on the market. low float, only 91 million total shares. vanguard and blackrock own a combined 30 million shares so actual float is pretty much the same as GME, around 60 million. SKT gained on thursday when rest of market took a shit. when the market faceplanted and REALLY ate shit friday morning it only dipped like 70 cents then bounced up 50 and held above its strong price floor of $16. when you look at the orderbook the sell walls are weak as fuck, only like 100 thousand dollars worth of stock to bust through before getting up to the $20s again. technicals like SMA50, 20 and 100 show uptrend. ridiculously massive volume the last week. like 70 million and 90 million in one day, when avg volume is less than 5 million. oh yeah the stock pays divvies and has actual fundamental support at its current price, it owns assets like premium real estate and generates rental revenue which will come back as corona recovers (proof from 2020 Q3 earnings). even if businesses go bankrupt SKT will still get rent because creditors will pay as the businesses who lease restructure or sell assets and if not they will get replaced by something else. literally is anyone else seeing SKT as a good swing this week or possibly a GME style memetic short squeeze explosion? relatively low risk and seems like a good upside and coronarecovery play anyway. the fact it seems to be a fairly safe long term hold plus dividends plus the possibility of short term massive price surge from short squeeze viral buy ins kind of make it attractive desu. well thats my DD on this, just wondering if anyone else noticed it. what you guys think?

Now all of a sudden it's at double zero. Combine that with the fact that they have multiple restaurants over in Colorado and one in Florida and in both states, business is picking up again and Illegal Burger being open for franchising and you've got a business with a lot of potential. Also you can gain additional leverage on the bid/ask but you risk the stock moving and the bid/ask literally shifting as you attempt to buy in. Rebranded all-weather portfolio by Ray Dalio. Stocks and bonds are much more correlated now than at any point in history and that has been the trend since 2008 (because now the market expects that when the market tanks, the Fed put will save them). And in particular bonds long term trajectory is to stay at zero which would make it better to use gold as a hedge which IS Ray Dalio's all weather portfolio.
The TQQQ/TMF meme thread has also been running into similar problems of bonds living on a "clock" where there are none left before they were made perma-trash following 2008. Longing vola is discussed there, or last I checked.
Part of what is infuriating about the markets now is that EVERYTHING is correlated together. With the exception of Vola and Gold.

>> No.30393870

Just buy gold and stocks.
Bonds are terrible, good volatility and tail risk management is almost impossible if you have no idea, are in it long term and hands off.

Commodities are fine but I'd just put that into stocks as well. Commodities are hard to invest in long term and before some imbecile buys fucking USO I'd rather have him invest that into SPY and get it over with.

>With Commodities added in there, would you think it would help?
You can. There are certainly broadbased funds that could do it or you can just buy the big names. Oil, copper, silver, and nickel if you want to narrow your focus. Silver has an industrial use case which informs much of the demand (historically nearly half).
>volatility (TAIL), then maybe some high return etfs like QQQ, some SPY, a small cap ETF, etc.
Tail is quite lazy. The "advantage" of everything being correlated is that vola on QQQ or SPY means vola everywhere else. So you can DIY long vola with long dated deepish OTM puts or even strangles. But that would require rebalancing that might be a tad annoying for a "passive" portfolio.
As for an index, just pick one. It will likely move with all the other over time anyway. VTI if you want to not get gamed by hedge funds dumping overbloated trash on you.
Nothing responds to real price discovery or business market forces right now. The Fed has coopted it ALL. And while I think I can navigate it I think this is going to end badly for all the fixed income retirees, redditors, retail, etc. out there. So making a permanenty portfolio may likely not protect you much as it might have for the past 50-60 years

I don't know anon, honestly I like to have a single general for stocks. Like no need to go change thread to view anything different, plus if would be more boring. I see lum, DD, news, bant and racismo here.
Its pretty comfy
>open 4chan
>go to biz
>put catalogue view
>ctr F " smg"
>click
And voila, amazing thread that is constant and with user always in it.
/smg/ nigger thread is like the only thing why I browse 4chan besides the occasional fit humor threads

>Dude, this is the bottom, since GEX is usually the lowest at the bottom
How do you know it is the bottom of GEX itself? It's not a leading indicator.
This is why I hate the expression "If you're searching for something, it's always in the last place you look", well fucking duh, that's because you stop looking once you found it.
Also low gamma swings both ways, it is literally a coinflip. If it wasn't, the algos would have immediately bought in, knowing for sure that it's going to go up.

I haven't checked the other threads so I assumed it was someone doing this by hand as it rarely occurs more than once per thread but thank you for reminding me

how is everyone going to trade RBLX if you do? I fear _them_ manipulating the share price prior to market open on Wednesday to have retail traders load up on their bags while dumping it right after because the company is neither sustainable nor innovative

am I overthinking this or has retail enough power to pump the stock for the sake of personal entertainment?

We just hit a 7 year low, lower than it was during the March crash.. you can be pretty confident / assign high probability that it was the 'bottom'
When you combine extremely low GEX with the other major bullish factors (YCC / Operation Twist / stimulus passing) it acts as a major accelerant upward
Extremely low GEX by itself does not necessarily guarantee we're going up.. but when combined with the other bullish factors driving the market.. you can assign very high probability that it will result in a squeeze upward
From their white paper:
>When GEX is low (including negative), it acts as an accelerator. Practically, the "brake" stifles the market's upside while the "accelerator" ultimately enables upward price action resembling a squeeze (in both form and function).
>"accelerator" ultimately enables upward price action resembling a squeeze
>upward price action resembling a squeeze
https://squeezemetrics.com/monitor/docs
Is it possible that it was not the bottom of GEX?
Yes. Is it likely it was not the bottom of GEX? No.
Is it possible we sell off further? Yes. Is it likely? No.

>"Dragon" portfolio allocation
I hate these "all purpose" portfolios. First off, it assumes fully passive investing, which none of us does here, or else we wouldn't be posting in a pennystock thread.
Second, it takes data from the last 100 years. So much changed about the market that considering more than ~20 years is absolutely retarded, and you will be either leaving money on the table, or outright losing money.
Also, looking at their graphs, they chose some very specific starting points to do comparisons with. There are plenty of starting points where a conservative portfolio of 100% TQQQ would beat it hands down, even going through dump phases.

YCC didn't pass. It might some time. It even might not. That's just Mannerino's schizo shit that he read on reuters from a Pajeet spambot poster. Remeber that JPow said that he saw some bubbles, and non-catastrophically deflating them is good for the economy and the Fed.

I don't agree with your likelyhood estimations. It's literally a coinflip. It has to be, or else institutions would've been all over equities on Friday, and it was barely green.

False. It does not.

this means actively changing positions in commodities, based upon how they are trending
eg. Long coffee, short cotton
This changes based upon the trend
You do not just "long coffee" for years in the dragon portfolio
>leaving money on the table, or outright losing money.
The dragon portfolio is just 'guaranteed' to keep you making money, in all conditions. It's a balanced risk portfolio. Yes you may leave some money on the table, however, if the conditions shit the bed unexpectedly, you will still be doing fine in the dragon portfolio whereas other portfolios that were making a larger return will be getting fucked in their asshole

>That's like saying "Damn, we are at an ATH now, we will crash tomorrow".
It isn't though - it's an indicator, not the market as a whole (which should always trend up and over the long-run always hit new all time highs)
It'd be like if daily RSI hit a 7 year low - you can assign good probability that it will not go lower
>YCC didn't pass.
Yet. And right now, the market thinks that it will
When the market thinks that it will, they change their behavior to hedge in case it happens. This results in buying of equities (as we saw on Friday)
>It has to be, or else institutions would've been all over equities on Friday, and it was barely green.
?????????
Anon were you even trading on Friday?? We were CRASHING after the 'bull trap' open, HARD, SPY went from $380 to $373 in 2 hours (-1.8%) "Miraculously" at 11:30am the market suddenly reversed, $373 to $384 (+2.9%)
