I have spent all but 10 minutes looking into NFT and it seems legit to me. Apparently BTC and the block chain is the first digital tech available which makes it impossible to pirate. Basically a digital signature which cannot be counterfeited.

Now apparently NFT solves the issue that artists have had with digitized media which is the ability to pirate. You create your NFT art and sell it, because its on the blockchain it cannot be pirated and ownership is easy to prove.

I think it has a future but I am retarded so who knows.

You don't get it. NFTs are going to be HUGE for money laundering. It's genius. You want to transfer a large sum of money from a dirty wallet to a clean one? Draw a picture of sonichu and sell it for 500 ETH. Now the tax man knows how you earned that money, it's because you sold art that "somebody" valued at 500 ETH. You have the receipt.

best way to understand it is that it's a very very reliable and accurate receipt chain.

The original artist is the first receipt in the chain and the more added to the chain the more valuable the NFT becomes.

With a fungible token trade it is not distinct and not added to.

"Receipt chains"/NFTs solve the myth of sisyphus. One must imagine the buyer happy. One must imagine a runner high. One must understand the value of quantity of life beyond quality of life.
________________________________________________

[due diligence tangent (optional reading)]:

If you wanted an asset for it's experiential quality one would buy gemstones or precious metals, being that the value is purely derived from it's definition and cannot be influenced by who held it prior or what it represents. A well defined cut on a gemstone or pure gold is probably what you're after if you're investing in an experience.

by looking at pic related you are not experiencing a pipe but the work has value because someone has to own a work and it has been sold a bunch of times making it particularly valuable despite not letting you see a real pipe.

its not about pirating
its about proving its the original copy
it has its use, but art, music and shit is not the case, especially video and music - they are copies of movies that are sold and are original, yet you can pirate that copy and sell it or redistribute it "illegally"
creating just one movie/song that only 1 person can view it at a time is dumb, maybe an art piece on the wall is ok - and you can prove its yours original, to flex on poors, but thats about it when it comes to visual art
documents and diplomas, as well as other shit like unique game assets for cash is more viable and consumer grade

check out veve app. the NFTs on that are licensed by DC comics, Cartoon Network, NFL...etc. You can zoom into them, cast the in AR and take pictures with them. Ive seen websites that will let you battle any NFT you have and people can wager against it. I see them creating future VR playgrounds where you can chill with your NFTs, maybe fuck them. who knows man but a first edition Batman NFT with only 600 exisitng in the world sounds pretty valuable and I dont even like comic books.

Anyone remember this guy?
He's actually fucking right and I can't wait for the nft hype to die down.
PS: A german dude that released 2 albums in the past that reached gold status (100k sold units) without big label, marketing etc just released 100 Jingles as nfts. He has like a million followers on IG and shit, it's fucking ogre.

What is the intrinsic value of a bitcoin? How much should bitcoin actually be worth, taking into account all of its merits and drawbacks and paying no mind to hype or fear-mongering? You may answer zero, but you must explain yourself.

That doesn't mean it's worthless, by the way. I just think it has no intrinsic value. That doesn't mean I think it can't be useful or that the tech doesn't have legitimate use-cases.
