Tbh Starbucks is better than Costa at least, but I won't miss them. If you love coffee, you should start making your own at home anyway. Right now it's just a hang out for yuppies.

is Panara Bread coffee good?
The unlimited free coffee for monthly subscription they've got sounds pretty good.

I like Cafe Nero of all the coffee chains. It has its Italian pretensions but the coffee is okay and the decor and layout in most of them is pretty nice. Also, its a British company, which is a bonus. Their cakes are good and the food is ok. Also, best music policy. If you can get somewhere to print you a rubber stamp up you could get free coffee, too. But that would be dishonest.

4-6 dollar coffee milkshakes are a scam.

It says you can take a free coffee (or some other drinks included) every 2 hours while the cafe is open. I work remote and I'm eager to stay out of the house, but I can't use electronics under the sun in +90F summer temps.
The regular price for a coffee starts at $2.79 here. If I take 2 or 3 of them every day for like $12 through the entire month, that's a good value right?

If the coffee isn't any worse than Starbucks's garbage at least.

Coffee shops is just luxury for midwits anyway.
The "change in customers' habits" is just people having less money.

I had this for 5 years or more
I don't need anything else. I just press a button and it's the coffee is ready. I only drink espresso so it's either long like in this picture or short but some newer models make different type of coffee drinks.

idk, theres also a lot of Costas in Bong, like millions of the fuckers, and independents eating their lunch now. And no fucker needs that much coffee. You could/can still do a halfway interesting coffee bar as an independent but Starbucks always seemed really dated to me, some reason. I doubt its improved any either in the years since I last bothered venturing into one.

Coffee shops are actually one of the businesses that haven't been consumed by the large big bully company.

Ok, for a while it was all about the big boys, Costa, Starbucks etc but in the last five years, I am noticing less Starbucksand more hipster small coffee shops. It's against the trend in business.

starbucks markets itself around woke white women queerbaiting shit but because it's a global megacorp it will always be self contradictory in a sense whereas some independent vegan cafe can be much more authentically that
from the very get-go starbucks is offering a losing proposition
the actual middle class woke people will always sooner go to an independent store whereas the people who love starbucks are aspirational mud people or otherwise low iq troggs who can't recognise that contradiction and absorb tv adverts
but we don't have those in the uk like they do in america: here our brown people don't drink coffee and our chavs would sooner go to greggs or something
the only people that really go to starbucks are younger teenagers who aren't really conscious consumers yet or people who just want a coffee from whatever is available and have no particular loyalty
but costa has that market much more cornered here and i think in general costa is just more appealing to britons because it's not american and isn't as loud about its wokeness although make no mistake they're all globohomo
>>50420146
cafe nero is the best big chain by far it's just so much more pleasant to be in than the others
greggs does the best cheap decent coffee but i'd sooner get a mcdonalds coffee than starbucks
the prices are eyewatering for such poor burned coffee too

All cappuccinos of any brand I tried in the UK seemed to have some chemical substance keeping them scalding artificially, even after 1/2 he being served (I ram some empirical tests)
I'm italian, thus all the coffee tried in the UK seemed to have something inherently wrong, it very often had a burnt, acidic taste.
That said SB apart being expensive had an alarmingly high level of sugar in all their drinks, total nonsense.
For me the best chain overall was Pret: best croissants and overall experience.

>it very often had a burnt, acidic taste.
because it is burnt
people have this image of coffee as a very bitter tasting even bad flavour to the point where they expect that
anything other than a mildly nutty chocolatey burnt taste would be totally alien to the average briton
i have no idea why because some coffee is hardly bitter at all
>keeping them scalding artificially
it's expected that people will put milk in them
as someone who drinks black coffee, it's very annoying to have to wait a long time for my coffee to cool down before i can drink it while my coworkers can immediately drink their creamy pale coffees

Hmm, I'm talking take away cardboard cups. The filtered office coffee was surprisingly good tho, at first i was wary of it but then it made way more sense than espresso, I must admit.

yes so am i
good coffee is very simple and easy - it's crazy to me that bad coffee is so common
i think really people here just want to drink slightly sweet warm milk honestly it's the same reason milky black tea is so popular in spite of it being painfully bland and almost nobody being interested in anything beyond just teabags
