More like un-future proof. Years ago there was another attempt to supercede Javascript through a preprocessor called Coffeescript, which IMO only succeeded in making code uglier. Coffeescript eventually fell out of favour thankfully so it's not really used anymore. Typescript has some genuine benefits that make it better than what Coffeescript was but I can still see it going the same way when the next best preprocessor comes along. Maybe I've just been coding for too long and I'm stuck in my ways.
