worked in a supermarket to make weed money during university
it was shit because it meant having to get into work at like 6 in the morning, having to smell the rotten carcass smell of the fat trap from the butcher's section (even more unlucky if you were the one roped in to help put all that shit into the skip), and then deal with fucking customers who would spend 10 minutes ranting at you because we'd ran out of something or other. used to tell them i'd look in the back for them, then fuck off for 5 minutes. leaving wasn't my choice, I got sacked after a month or two for having a bad attitude.

Meat processing plant for a little over min wage.

Bagging up slippery, cold, dead chicken carcasses in a steamy basement. The smell was death incarnate. Blood and guts everywhere. Nobody spoke english.

Quit after one day.

Only reason I worked there was because my friend assured me it would be easy. Yeah, fucker just wanted a recruitment reward cause the place couldn't find any workers.

Stay in school, kids.

The one I hated the most was cleaning movie theaters 3rd shift during the summer before college. Pick up the trash, sweep, and mop (lots of sweeping and mopping). I was alone cleaning 99% of the time. One of my coworkers was a literal retard.

The worst part of it by far was working nights. I have no idea how people do that shit long term. You become a depressed zombie with no life.

Working as a cashier at Home Depot. The job itself wasn’t that bad, it’s all the little bullshit annoyances that made the job wore me down.
>Always short staffed, lines out the ass
>Equipment always breaking/not working, along with point 1 creates angry customers
>Stand all day, written up for sitting down
>Can’t leave the register to use bathroom unless someone covers for you
>When it was time for lunch, you were essentially at the mercy of the person scheduled to go before you
>Instead of hanging by the register, manger wanted us to stand in the middle of the isle and greet EVERY SINGLE PERSON that walked by. Written up if you don’t
>Credit card applications, enough said
Now that I’m typing all of that out, the job was pretty awful. I stuck it out for a couple years while I was in uni. Once I graduated I ghosted them and never came back.

Worked as a "sales associate" at office depot.
They had me constantly cycling between roles, so I was alternating between cashier, stocker, tech, copy center, customer damage control on a minute by minute basis.
That and the hordes of homeless who would come in, get high in the bathroom off canned air, and then pass out. Or the random moms who would threaten violence when they couldn't get giant print orders done same day. Or the old fucks who expected you to use their phones for them.
I'm never working retail ever again, fuck that.

Tim Hortons baker. Job was easy. Boss was this obese Arab bitch who made all the workers' lives miserable; shouting and badmouthing everyone out in the open to their face, keeping everyone super stressed all the time for no reason. In the end, I finally got my security guard license and fucked off forever. Fuck that shit

I worked part time as a sales associate at a clothing store. I needed a day off to sign a lease at an apartment closer to my school and they told me I couldn’t have the day off and I needed to get my priorities straight and figure out if I really wanted to work there. I walked out on the spot, got flooded with voicemails about I need to come back and I can’t leave. That was just the last straw as the job was very tribal and if you didn’t fit in right away you were micro managed but if you were part of the “team” you just hung around and talked to your friends. Leaving that job was glorious and at the time the daily voicemails asking if I was coming into my shift were annoying but now I can look back and laugh at how desperate they were.

Some examples of bs
>being put on cash register with managers telling you someone will take over for your break, no one comes and you get a warning for not going on break during your scheduled time
>expecting you to stand at the clock in computer and clock in *exactly* on time not a minute too soon or too late or it’s a warning
>folding clothing at a table, being told to go help customers, then being blamed because none of the tables are folded. Depending on the manager this could also be a warning
>being put on back to back clopening shifts
>getting 4 hour shifts 7 days a week only for them to cancel half of them an hour before your scheduled shift time
>”hey anon, you worked over 30 hours this week because we kept you late a lot, we don’t do overtime so we’re gonna delete those extra hours”. They tried this on me once, I told them try it and see how fast they get sued but I know they have done this to many new younger employees
They used the warnings at the end of year review to not give you a raise. Even if you did get a raise it was maxed at 2% of minimum wage. And all of this only applies if you weren’t part of the inner clique.

worst job(s) was working at a hostel for 4 hrs every morning for free bed to sleep in then working my line cook job in the worst rated hotel/restaurant in the town
8am sharp and you start every morning cleaning toilets and showers. I cleaned vomit, shit; washed off semen and picked up used condoms out of the showers. sometimes i would be so hungover i would vomit cleaning up and have to clean that up. the worst part was paying guests would see you. i realized everyone stayed away from the volunteers, no one wanted to socialize with the cleaners. thankfully i only did it for just over a month. the hotel job gives workers accommodation after 3 week probation.

DevOps Engineer / Operations Engineer. it was bad because I realized I was doing all the heavy lifting together with the team while office stacies drink cofee and do meetings all day. Also because I live in Belgium, one of the highest taxed countries in the world so its not worth doing the "hard work" cause you'll be taxed to shit and that guy doing a nobrain job at the factory doesn't get a lot less pay than you due to tax brackets.
