51266895 No.51266895 [Reply] [Original]

28. Still live with parents. Make 100k. Local luxury apartments go from 1100-1400 per month.

Should I pull the trigger and move out? Or wait. I smell a recession so I'm hesitant.

Also, I feel compelled to get my own place because I want a place to invite friends and hopefully, get laid.

What do frens

The Ultimate “Should I Move Out Guide”:

If you can answer yes to all of the following questions, you can move out:
1. Can you cover 18 months of living expenses if you moved out?
2. Would you have an equally long or shorter commute if you moved out?
3. Are you someone that is capable of getting pussy?
4. Would your potential rental be 30% or less of your take home pay AND have a low potential for you getting shot, mugged, or robbed by niggers?

Unfortunately I think I fell into the lap of complacency. Which I think is the reason why I'm still a virgin. I also switched jobs later than I should have. I could have potentially been making six figures a year sooner. Significant opportunity cost.

As for location. I live in an obscure flyover town with a significant defence and research presence here i.e. recession proof. And in regards to the rent. Anon, before COVID it was actually CHEAPER believe it or not. Rent here DOUBLED over the past few years.

Im not sure where you got that anon. For most ML positions a master's degree and some software experience is required.

Though maybe for you it could be different, as the demand for ML engineers will continue to grow. Just build a solid GitHub portfolio and apply to different positions and see where you go.

I actually settled for this job because I couldn't crack the FAANG interviews.
I'm dissatisfied with my junior position and will switch to a higher paying position in a year or two.

STAY HOME AND SAVE MONEY

The biggest meme taught in America is kicking your children out at 18. Living at home allows the next generation to not get rekt by rent.

Rent = 100% money lost
Mortgage = 4% lost (interest / rate on average)

i have like 130k cash but im unemployed and my parents kicked me out a year ago. 27 years old and just drifting from one small town to the next. I know i can secure a 70-80k labour job literally overnight so i dont stress about finding work but i do have an engineering degree and it would be nice to actually use it one of these days. just kind of feel perpetually bummed out and lonely, every day i get nothing done and tell myself "tomorrow ill start picking up the pieces, its not too late yet".

Based. I would go one step further and say it's important to also help out your family whenever possible. Depending on your dad's health, I don't know if that's much of an issue. But in most cases, as people's parents get older, they'll be hard pressed to do what they used to be able to do. For example, I take care of yard work/misc repairs since my dad's back is too messed up to do that anymore. Family is so important, and I want to take care of my parents as they get older. I don't know how people sleep at night knowing they've stuck their parents in a retirement home.
