Right now JEPI is a better bet than VOO because we're in a bear market and things are going to get ugly. When the market dumps JEPI will lose less value because it holds value stocks and it has a huge dividend from call options.

A better bear market option than VOO/JEPI is 50-50 BIL/JEPI. Risk free money from BIL combined with stable companies and a big dividend from JEPI. But you should wait until this bear market rally ends to purchase JEPI. Don't purchase the top.

The regime is changing. There are a lot of factors that people who have only known the post-2008 universe are failing to factor in.

There is worldwide deglobalization occurring. That is highly inflationary as jobs are onshored to countries that actually pay their workers and will increase the share of capital going to workers, which will suppress stock valuations. Plus the highly inflationary aspect of it requires that rates be higher.

There is a push in first-world countries toward "green technology" - again, highly inflationary as it is economically more expensive than dirtier technologies. This will crush companies that have profited for decades by exploiting the uncaptured negative externalities of cheap dirty fuel sources. It will slow global growth as the cost of energy will increase.

There is the lack of population growth due to declining birth rates, and lower labor participation rate. Fewer workers will decrease growth, potentially even causing stagnation. Even people who are employed don't have real jobs anymore, they just sits in their comfy office being paid a UBI called a "desk job". The emperor has no clothes.

The only hope for the market to continue to go up is progression in AI technology which can mitigate all of the above via massively increased productivity. This will be a huge boon to the market. But it will also put millions of workers out of jobs and create a political demand for something like UBI, create widespread worker disenfranchisement, depression, and probably lead to widespread societal collapse as the human regime ends and the machine regime begins.

>> No.52788117

They pivot based on how the economy and stock market reacts and they are always late. They tried raising rates starting in 2016 but later pivoted when the stock market dumped. They weren't thinking about raising rates in 2021 until they were forced to admit that inflation was out of control. They will stick with their "higher for longer" narrative until the world economy snaps and we find ourselves in a global depression.

It's been pretty excellent so far. The key is not taking things at face value. I have mined lots of very worthwhile data, like learning about options (that they are a thing at all, and doing deep study on my own from there, just to add another potential tool to my future approach), the notion of swing rather than day trading, many terms that I've learned, lots of things that are leading me deeper into learning *where* and *how* to watch for and get a sense of the flows of the markets...the underlying principles/causes/mechanisms/etc. Coming here has resulted in an exponential expansion of my knowledge, even if largely "indirectly" (though often as at least a direct stimulus).

There are some brilliant people here, and there are some retards...I have learned a lot from both.
