I just drove to STL and bought out a store that was liquidating it's merchandise.
I paid 15% COG and instead of having it freighted, I drove a UHAUL over and loaded the entirety myself.
I got 130,000 pieces for $20,000. $21,000 after expenses.
This is how you make money. Hustling.
I will sell it for minimum $200,000 over the next five years on a slow churn.
This is how you do real 10x all the time.

Have cash? You should be buying liquidations and doing as much of the manual labor yourself.
/biz/ is filled with people that hate work and just want the easy road out.
STAY POOR.

I have been doing this for years and have a website. But the idea works.
If you want to hustle you will make a lot of money.
If you don't, you won't.

At all times there is a saturated or totally defunct market and at the same time a market starving for these very goods.
But you have to do work.

It's hilarious to watch perpetually poor faggots knee jerk to ANY, and I mean ANY, conclusion that means they don't have to work.

My actual purchase was of solid brass furniture items that weighed a ton (several actually) and me picking it up saved at least $4,000 on freight.
Probably more at like 8% COG by the end if I accounted for the actual cost to import currently.

If you make so much money, give us your breakdown: how much do you pay for the warehouse and the uhaul and all the infrastructure to sell your items. Also, include how much you paid for your items to resell, as well as how many hours you put in finding the items, buying and loading them, unloading them, listing them, selling and packing and shipping them.

Altogether: what's your income per hour of time spent?

There are two types of people.

I'd HUSTLE this type of thing until I could look into bigger buys.
You need at least a pick up truck though.
Or partner up with someone else willing to work. Takes two people to carry out a $10 dresser.
Get your mind whirling and investigate markets.
Don't just go headlong into buying whatever is cheap.
Although, honestly, now that I have a system in place, I buy anything that is cheap.

What are you talking about? He didn't give any tips whatsoever. His post was just gloating, stating he can easily make 10x how much he's buying, and phrased it as a hustle, e.g. a side job. He stated it as though /biz/ just doesn't want to work. What he failed to mention is that he has a team of workers he employs, and a receiving. He doesn't have a hustle, he has a fucking business. The figures he's offering aren't something for someone to do as a hustle. It was only after subsequent posts when people were asking how he even runs this "hustle" that he explained that this was after decades of work. He even admitted later that anyone that hasn't sourced valuable clientele would have no hope of turning the profit he did. Telling someone with no skills, no assets, and no effective source of income to just spend twenty years doing this one highly specialized thing and you'll be set is going to be ignored most times because it's infantile to assume anyone would plan their life around that very specific outcome met, with no concrete measures to reach that outcome.

>>52835538
>Where does he say he started with a building?
In the actual post he made, did you read it at all?

"I started with a truck and a leaky building."

He started with two assets that are a pipe dream for any zoomer starting off. You think the average kid getting out of high school with nothing other than a shitty part-time job, or worse exiting college saddled with tens of thousands of dollars of debt, is going to be able to afford a $20,000 box-truck and tens of thousands of dollars on a building to store merchandise? "Just use your garage," you say, presupposing the kid will have a fucking garage. It's not a seething rejection, it's pointing out that this isn't a realistic scenario for the vastest majority of kids today.

Back for lunch.
You are a "you can't do that" person and you will forever be poor. The point is to go out and make things happen.
In rural areas leaky buildings are everywhere.
A shitty truck is like $3,500.
GET YOUR MIND WORKING.
These tips are for anons with some potential. Not perpetually fearful of action incels frantically pounding their keyboard.
>gloating
I got my start watching old timers gloat over buying a whole truck load of coat hangers and then scrapping them for double what they paid.
It's a mindset.
I don't have to hustle anymore. But I still rented a UHAUL and drove to STL to load the stuff myself. Saved me $5,000 easily.
It's a mindset. You don't have it. You don't need to be so long winded for us to know you don't have it.

Don't listen to the YOU CAN'T people. Start thinking about how you CAN.
How could I do this? Not,why can't I do this?

Literally if you are dirt poor with nothing you can hustle.
These faggots are literally saying to do nothing as opposed to at least considering your options.
Heaven forbid you make a little money by real work.
I mean...the risk is HUGE.
You might just make some money and not become rich!!!

Anons who already have jobs like the trade guy above should be saving up 10-30k in case for if an opportunity like the above arises.
Deals come to those who are prepared to seize the day.

SCALE DOES NOT MATTER. Even literal bums buy a pack of cigarettes and sell them out as singles to even bigger bums. You gotta save up $7 first though.

You're a gambler bragging that you made it big in a time when any gambler who had functioning limbs made it big, you simply do not understand that most people today do not have what you did then, nor is the world as kind to them for being as incapable as you were.

>A shitty truck is like $3,500.
What kind of shitty truck? A box truck? You find one for $3,500 and not only are you lucky, you're also looking at a liability that will NOT function very long. Not something a zoomer would bet his life on, which he would be doing if he went forward with this.

>I got my start watching old timers gloat over buying a whole truck load of coat hangers and then scrapping them for double what they paid.
>It's a mindset.
Gloating isn't a mindset, it's just you jerking yourself off because you were successful and assume everyone today is just lazy. it's another boomer just endlessly fellating himself because he gained skills and built a career in a time when anyone with a frontal lobe would fall ass backwards into the equivalent of a six figure job today.

>Literally if you are dirt poor with nothing you can hustle.
Okay, show it right now. Assume a zoomer who is 18 is following your advice. They have absolutely nothing and are at the bottom, exactly where you were. They are broke, currently working at a minimum wage job living paycheck to paycheck. They are making $900 a paycheck. They live in a one-bedroom apartment they share with another. Their portion of the rent is $1,100, their phone bill is $115, their gas is $120, and their food is $200. They have a take-home pay of $3,180 a year assuming absolutely nothing at all happens that incurs a cost, such as car trouble, an illness, a crash, etc.

my man, this is like suggesting drop shipping. most things worth buying on auction or by warehouse don't have a value proposition. that is why companies like amazon specifically bulk sell return/garbage in carefully curated 'packs' that they won't tell you what is in them. most of these things have been min/maxed. you having friends that did this 30 years ago means nothing. you will not make millions doing this. they have figured out an online auction or careful curating of liquidations makes most of their money back. the stuff left over is laborious items that you might get at a good price but will take forever to sell or are labor intensive. maybe you got a head start 30 years ago with your friends, and if so more power to you, but someone couldn't do this today. you're benefitting from years of profits. you just told us you already have a warehouse and sales infrastructure which means an existing platform and customer base. maybe you also already have connections with sellers/auction houses. the list goes on

I'm a realist. A can do attitude and a slap on the ass doesn't materialize experience or give guidance on how to be successful, if that sounds negative maybe it's because the reality is most aren't successful and it's not due to lack of effort but lack of opportunity. What if every single time you brought that rake to someone's door they told you to fuck off? Just keep on to the next house, again and again? What would you do if you ran out of money to eat and live? All of it, every last cent? I'm not saying tell people to give up, I'm saying be realistic and think of what kids today are actually going to be able to do and why they are inclined to skepticism when someone gives them an incredibly unrealistic path to success.

Shipping uses cargo ships. It's based on volume. Not weight. So if you bulk buy shit being manufactured overseas you ship it. By volume. That is cost is about the space it takes up on the ship.

Once the product gets here its on trucks or trains or planes. That's by weight.

Yeah I know peoole often say shipping to cover the entire transport cost.

However, if we are talking business and manufactured goods. Shipping means on a ship.

I do sell on Ebay though and you don't need a website for that. But I would recommend flipping entire lots to start really.
Buy something really cheap. Sit and wait for several months looking for a buyer possibly if that's what it takes. then sell the whole thing and just double up or something.
I have an operation now and can do lots better.
Starting out it's not realistic or practical in many cases.
It's better to find buyers. Find out what people want first. Then locate the items for a fast flip.
You are just gonna have to think, feel it out, see what you can do in your area.

This printer shit is such a pain in the ass but the goodwill near me literally gives them away, 95% of them work, and I think goodwill resale can still work.

Thanks for the little motivation boost OP, larp or not. But I believe you.

Plz help a brainlet out. How did you start out with finding the liquidating businesses? I'm guessing you have time for this now. How about when you started? I hate that I have to work a regular 50-60 hours/week to keep on at 100k/year, I don't know how I would even do this.

I'm not scared of "the hard work", I've worked hard labour jobs for 5 years now, yes some of it doing transport/warehousing. I'm just dumb enough to have work ethic while not knowing how to apply myself and my time outside of "doing the hard work".

How do you sell it? Especially at the start. All the same niche as in you already have a business selling some certain items and you just look for the same items to sell? Or do you buy just anything and try to sell it over larger online retail sites? And then again at the start would you just do daily/weekly work to pick, pack, post the products if you're trying to do this yourself? Trying to figure how I can fit this into my 8-6 job.

When you run a business, and are not a WAGIE, then you have waxing and waning incomes. This year is shit. Everyone knows its shit. And I've gotten myself too much overhead from the good years so I HONESTLY just tell people because I don't care to make stuff up.
This is a realistic expectation of someone trying to build a business.
I made $250,000 roundabout year before. Then I can write off anything I sit on as trash and scrap it at any time. Sitting on a million in writeoffs if I ever need them.
I have big years and slow years.

But I will explain for /biz/lets.
I got it at 15% or roundabout COG, maybe 10% if you add in the freight I'd have had to pay.
If your costs are 1/10th of the previous operation then that is how you make money.
There is a spread there.
Sad that I have to explain this.
She imported at full cost in 2018 or 2019.
Now selling to me at what was calculated (but always an estimate in liquidations) at 15% COG.
Well COG is up 30% since then at the low end.
So I'm buying at 15% of the 2019 cost of production.

Yes interesting I always read your threads. I remember you posting about this some months back. I have about 50k laying around doing nothing and really like the idea of running my own business. Me and the wife pull in about 220k and only have 70k in expense. Use to me not working, long story but I make 6 figs now. Have about 5k a month to do whatever with. I have an IT and bar/restaurant background about a decade in each.

Please dont waste time replying to people with shitty comments and attitudes it derails the thread and doesnt do anything. I've actually seen a guy exactly like you in my old neighborhood. Drove a giant truck around with a trailer that was always parked on street. Would have this black dude with him that was borderline homeless. His day laborer , seemed like a nice enough dude tho.

Anyways this sounds like a thing someone sort of mentors you into. Or maybe had a friend that kind of told you want to buy or start with. If I was going to try to do this I would look into IT equipment buying it up from random places. Or taking it for free. Saying I am going to recycle it. When I'll just repackage and buy whatever missing pieces it needs. Then resell it all another reseller. Trying to make connection and networking with other companies to find out who needs what seems like a huge pain in the ass. I feel like it would still be easier just to get a loan , buy a dive bar and let that collect income for me. Instead of essentially learning a new skill and becoming a salesman. But ya 250k for one year is okay, but not great compared to what my family is bringing in now and I work mostly from home tech job. I do want to have independent income that isnt reliant on an employer though. I find that very attractive in what you do.

I heard someone say, first you invest in stocks, make money. Then make a business. Then after all that is done, you can buy a house or go into real estate.

I needed to do this earlier but didn't expect the thread to run long.
To be honest I know it helps keep it bumped to argue. But point taken.
>sounds like a thing someone sort of mentors you into
It doesn't have to be. But this would make it much easier and if you are willing to be someone's muscle you could probably be introduced to a lot of people.
Being young offers a lot of possibility.

If I were you I'd do a lot of looking and searching and market research. Ecommerce and selling things isn't overall that great except for the freedom it provides.
Hustlers are always hustling. But it doesn't have to actually be that hard.
Just being always alert and interested will get you going.
Never hurts to ask either. MAKE AN OFFER if it's something you think you can flip.

This load. Me 15 years ago I'd have been looking to flip as fast as possible by just parking it in a dry place and looking for someone else to buy it at $30k or $40k depending...
Now I have an operation, more space, so I slow churn it on a longer time span for a much greater margin.

>> No.52855040

>>52854974
Reiterating the one point.
MAKE AN OFFER.
I actually looked at this load, thought it was too valuable, and almost just passed.
But I sent her a note basically saying "Hey, I know it's a lot of good stuff, but everyone knows stuff is slow and I've barely got room to store it...the best I can see me doing is $20,000 for the entire list.
I was almost shy about such a low ball but that's what I thought I could justify currently given space, cash flow, etc.
She took it and was happy.
And I'm happy.
Make an offer. Worst can happen is the say no.

>look I know you probably want more, but I'm here RIGHT NOW, with X,XXX
This is all it takes sometimes and that's why the two most important things are
1. Do you have cash RIGHT NOW?
2. Can you pick it up RIGHT NOW or HOW SOON?
Price drop precipitously given your answers to these questions.

>> No.52855145

>>52852971
>intention or goal
Whose intention or goal and has it been perverted.
Point being, when I hear something outlandish, I think...hmmm what set of circumstances would make this true?
Looking at the world this way opens the mind and expands the thinking.
Critical thinking has been used to make "everyone('s) a critic".
I don't waste my time too much criticizing.

I am an old book guy. I collect old dictionaries.
Live time experiment I am doing as I type.
>google definition "criticize"
1. indicate the faults of (someone or something) in a disapproving way
2. form and express a sophisticated judgment of (a literary or artistic work)

I see that 1 is the shit way everyone has been taught to do it and 2 is the way it should be.

Now I will consult my Bolles' 1890 dictionary live time without knowing the entry.
First, they don't number them
>To play the critic; to judge; to animadvert upon as faulty
Second,
>To examine with respect to beauties or faults. To censure

So anyway.

Especially elucidating on the weak mind of the zoomer - they are for sure what you describe as “cannot people”. They’d rather find a way to scam on YouTube. Last thing I’ll add is that I went to a top 20 MBA and those kind of educated people don’t have the balls nor the right ego to do things like this. Pic related is her samples she had out for customers.
It's all packaged from the factory, what I bought, ready for consumer purchase.

Now...the reason she can't move it elsewhere is CASH and SPACE (and in this case weight).
I was within 3 hours drive of her and I had $20,000 and I could take it immediately.
She had the real estate agent in to list the property as I was picking up.
She wanted OUT...NOW.
Me, a truck, and $20k made that happen for her.

Pic related is my tease photo for people that know my business about what I'm bringing in next.

If you are starting out then the only things you see advertised won't be that good as some of the YOU CANTs have posted in here.
I'd start with estate sales.
HIBID is best maybe. That's still small lots stuff.

Example where I make no money but get personal enjoyment (but room to make money for someone).
Find a niche, buy a few things from the same auctioneer, then talk to him personally saying you can be his outlet shit he can't get rid of if need be.
Start talking to guys in the business of liquidation and auction.
Look into becoming and auctioneer and you can actually auction your junk on those sites.
I come from a long line of auctioneers but just recently did this as another avenue for my bigger junk that doesn't ship.
Start small, keep your eyes open for big.

The biggest thing is to BE PREPARED.
If you want to do this you need bare minimum $5,000 cash, a garage (bigger is better), and a truck to haul stuff. A shitty truck and trailer will do, but if you aren't hauling yourself to start there is no way you will make money.

I would use Ebay to start because even I use it and you just price in the fees and then your stuff shows on a big website. That's for small stuff.
Only do a website if you get bulk quantity of the same item. List it once, sell it a lot of times.
Don't keep any books until you are making money.
Be ready to sit on something for awhile.
If you are itchy to get rid of something, then YOU become the guy selling it too cheap.
