I have a decent career in tech now, and while the trades taught me a lot about life and people, I absolutely wish I would've stayed in school the first time around. I would be a lot further in my career now, that's for sure.

Not having to travel for work is so nice. Not being subjected to constant physical hazards is also nice.

i'm speaking from experience, i basically did the exact same thing as you, only instead of working a trade in my 20s i worked at a tech startup (without a degree tho). i got my undergrad at 28 and managed to stretch the truth enough to leverage my previous startup experience into landing a product manager role at a FAANG company. the HR roastie who helped me get hired was pretty pissed after she found out that I graduated in 2018 and not 2008, but i didn't lie about anything, i just let them make assumptions and i never corrected them lmao.
