Can we just stop for a minute and actually talk about what we should be stacking? This board is all either bobo fud or anons trying to scam others by hyping bsc tokens. Let's cooperate for at least one thread and get in on some good stuff that will help us make it.

Nothing else will matter for the next bullrun.
1. Bunch of new use cases 2. Decentralized front-ends

The narratives which you could run on Bitcoin, ETH and ETH alternatives have pretty much been played out. "Digital gold", "Store of Value", "ICO", "DeFi", "NFT".
ICP is next generation and will lead next narrative. The narratives will be decentralized front ends, SocialFi, GameFi, decentralized cloud and email.

GMX but not at current prices. I would accumulate more in the low $40s and below. Would really like to see $25/coin for the BIG gulp™ but that feels like a pipe dream at this point.

Why, you may ask? It's quite simple: it is the largest decentralized perps exchange. Growth has continued even despite the bear market, which basically screams "GOOD INVESTMENT, GOOD INVESTMENT" for the next bullrun. Reminds me of Celsius back in 2019. inb4 omglol that was a scam. CEL pulled a 100x in two years and showed all the same signs we see now in GMX - strong positive growth during the bear market. Knowing Celsius would almost certainly blow up just put you in the position of knowing that one day, you would have to dump your CEL bags and walk away instead of baghold into oblivion. The narrative going into the last bull market was crypto getting "institutional adoption" and basically getting to the point of being like tradfi, with lending and fancy ways to rehypothecate collateral you see in the banking/insurance/asset management industries. Celsius fit that bill perfectly and played to the narrative all the way up until the music stopped. That's what you want, to anticipate the next narrative and find something which is going to best fulfill the vision of realizing that narrative - to make it not only seem real, but to become real (at least for a little while).

The next narrative will at least in part have something to do with DEX perps, as a natural reaction to all the CeFi failures we saw in the '22 bear. Trust has rightfully been eroded in opaque private lender balance sheets. When they get squeezed they just fucking pop. That problem doesn't exist in DeFi protocols, hence it's kind of a 2+2=4 when I say they are the next in line to fulfill the next "adoption" crypto narrative.

...that's not to say it's all roses and cream into the sunset, happily ever after for DeFi. (cont)

>> No.53946886

DeFi protocols come with their own set of tradeoffs, some of which won't be fully realized until next bullrun is well underway. Smart contract risk is the most obvious, but beyond that, we are already seeing the start of what will become "the next big problem" in crypto: dependency risk.

As has so often been the case, the projects which are currently leading *actual* innovation within DeFi - GMX, Opyn, the like - have many other projects who basically copy their code and try to compete with them. Think YFI forks, OHM forks, that sort of thing. Well, since we've seen this story SO many times before, with almost all YFI/OHM/etc. clones failing entirely to the point of being scams built on top of scams, most crypto investors (the ones who still have money and avoid being scammed, that is) are wary of these projects. So, clearly that old "just copypaste the code lol" formula doesn't work nearly as well as it used to - what now?

Well, unfortunately (for scammers that is), that means you actually have to build a project which DOES something useful and different. So we see many new projects starting which integrate into GMX utilizing their GLP pool to generate yield, or use Opyn options to develop covered call vaults which generate yield... and now, these projects are actually doing something! It's not just a copypasta anymore, it's real innovation all round. That's fantastic and all, but it sets in motion the building of a sort of tower of babel... smart contract after smart contract, all interdependently woven together so precisely, so delicately...

Software developers will be familiar with the term "dependency hell". Well, that's the future of DeFi. Here's my chance to invest in the latest and greatest innovation which is built as a 7th derivative of this other project's smart contract and extends these 3 other smart contracts as classes. Can you smell that...? One small bug away from SYSTEMIC collapse.

>> No.53946951

BUT, no matter. I am getting ahead of myself, we are here to prepare for the next bull are we not? What was I talking about?

Oh yes, GMX. Well the bull case as mentioned is similar to CEL, but there's a sort of flywheel effect built into the tokenomics which, when a bunch of fresh capital is thrown at it and token prices are all rising across the board, causes an O(n^3) effect on the price of the token.

Since it has real yield generated from funding/trading fees, it's value can be derived just like a stock using a free cash flow model. So the cashflow is clearly important, lets dig into that.

On Arbitrum the cashflow is paid in ETH, on Avalanche, in AVAX. So if the price of ETH and/or AVAX goes up, so too does the value of the cashflow in $ - that brings up the price of GMX. Factor 1.

If the price of AVAX/ETH and generally all crypto is rising, then it's probbably because fresh capital is entering the space. This will cause an increase in trading activity broadly, which will increase trading activity on GMX, and thus generate more fees to accrue to the cashflow of GMX. Factor 2.

Finally, the price of the token and stocks generally cannot be determined *solely* by FCF alone. There is a premium or multiple which investors are willing to attribute to that cashflow, depending on the sentiment of the market. P/E ratio. This rises broadly during a bull market. Factor 3.

So the price of GMX in the next bull market will be a function of:
1) rising token prices
2) rising trading volumes
3) rising multiples

Prices * Volumes * multiples

O(n^3)

Yeah, I want that.

They are functional but the incentive structure isn't aligned quite as well, between liquidity providers and traders. That's going to be the key point going forward into the bull - which DEX can bring together the most liquidity and the most traders because the incentives benefit both in the best way possible. For now, IMO, GMX has little competition in that regard. But I won't preclude another project creating yet another liquidity provisioning model which is even better than GMX, we just haven't seen it yet. Not to say the other projects that are out there won't do well in a bull, they probably will, and you could prob find some good multiples on them as well. But the risk is always going to be higher investing in a runner up, because they run the risk of fading back into the pack. Better to try and pick the winner and stick to it until the race is over.

I actually think DOGE is a decent bet, but would like to accumulate sub 5c. It's made it this far, absolutely refuses to fall very far from the top 10 after fucking years. It's the quintessential left curve coin. You can buy it and boom, you've got the left curve covered with something that is at least not entirely a scam. It's kind of become it's own self fulfilling prophecy of retardation. When retards get money, and want to buy crypto, they will buy DOGE no questions asked because its a cute dog and who doesnt like cute dogs? It's the first thing they see when going down the coin by marketcap list that makes them feel some sort of positive emotion and then they buy it simply based off of that feeling.

By knowing that, right curvers will buy it too in anticipation of the left curvers. And once the pump starts in earnest the midcurve copes and seethes until finally they capitulate buy into the pump and get dumped on violently by both tails of the IQ distribution. Poetic.
