what was your initial thesis behind investment in tupperware?

Not a boomer, just new to the game. Saw the low price at 2.50 and thought Tupperware was a household name.. saw some news about them putting it in more stores and on Amazon without actually doing legitimate research. Worse case scenario I'm out 25 bucks. Did not expect it to die so quickly lol I am testing the waters so to speak as I read up and study etc etc. Been investing for 2 weeks and this is only a small piece of my portfolio so far and by far the worse choice. So yeah just trying to get some opinions on if it's even worth holding to watch what happens.

Thesis behind buying TUP at the moment is that it is a household name. Everyone calls plastic storage containers "Tupperware" regardless of the actual brand on the container. This is a prime takeover target for the name alone. Probably worth at least $5-$8/share for the name alone. I bought shares today at $1.25.

big corporations can use retail investors like you as exit liquidity by buying media stories. happens all the time. think about it, all this news about tupperware going into stores and such and then the price crashes, its not a coincidence or maybe it is, but these things happen all the time. there are even leaked lists of prices of what it costs to buy a story at various mainstream outlets its not even all that expensive. maybe the investors themselves do it and the corporation wasnt even involved. likewise when they want to keep a price down to accumulate they might pay to fud a story. they in this case could be anyone.

how can tupperware reasonably compete against chinese competitors? The competition to produce massive quantities of cheap plastic shit is insane. Where is the fucking profit? What kind of brand value is there in cheap plastic containers? "Oh we have the best lids". Motherfucker it's a plebs market, they are going to buy the cheapest shit possible regardless of quality. Middle/upper class will just buy uber-fancy plasticware or glassware then take care of it and never buy again for 20+ years. Where is the market for this shit, realistically?
