I only have 10 shares. Should I hold out or expect it to die? Rumors of bankruptcy and it getting taken down completely are everywhere but if there is a good chance it can get back to 2.50 (when I bought) at some point it may be worth it to hold.

tupperware lasts at least 2 generations, not eco friendly, market saturation too high and glass is better

Not a boomer, just new to the game. Saw the low price at 2.50 and thought Tupperware was a household name.. saw some news about them putting it in more stores and on Amazon without actually doing legitimate research. Worse case scenario I'm out 25 bucks. Did not expect it to die so quickly lol I am testing the waters so to speak as I read up and study etc etc. Been investing for 2 weeks and this is only a small piece of my portfolio so far and by far the worse choice. So yeah just trying to get some opinions on if it's even worth holding to watch what happens.

OK. apart from this being the most faggot thread i have ever read on this post after taking a quick look i see that the company is at risk of going out of business and that is the reason for the recent price drop. so my advice would be to either double down on your investment (buy more), sell, or maybe this could be some sort of short squeeze like gamestop and if everybody think its going out of business start buying longs. your choice up to you

Thesis behind buying TUP at the moment is that it is a household name. Everyone calls plastic storage containers "Tupperware" regardless of the actual brand on the container. This is a prime takeover target for the name alone. Probably worth at least $5-$8/share for the name alone. I bought shares today at $1.25.

the thesis for tupperware is because of the economic recession and people are going to be saving their scraps instead of throwing them out

big corporations can use retail investors like you as exit liquidity by buying media stories. happens all the time. think about it, all this news about tupperware going into stores and such and then the price crashes, its not a coincidence or maybe it is, but these things happen all the time. there are even leaked lists of prices of what it costs to buy a story at various mainstream outlets its not even all that expensive. maybe the investors themselves do it and the corporation wasnt even involved. likewise when they want to keep a price down to accumulate they might pay to fud a story. they in this case could be anyone.

legitimate question:
how can tupperware reasonably compete against chinese competitors? The competition to produce massive quantities of cheap plastic shit is insane. Where is the fucking profit? What kind of brand value is there in cheap plastic containers? "Oh we have the best lids". Motherfucker it's a plebs market, they are going to buy the cheapest shit possible regardless of quality. Middle/upper class will just buy uber-fancy plasticware or glassware then take care of it and never buy again for 20+ years. Where is the market for this shit, realistically?

Step 1. Buy containers
Step 2. Mom and grandma hear the news, runs to store buying tupperware
Step 3. Wait for storage to deplete
Step 4. Profit

This will be the same as how raspberry pi went up. I guess how high price goes depents on how much in storage they got.

Well there is no reason to sell. Since in the offchance a whiteknight arroves and buys out the company it could moon. Or it goes bust but eh it's just 25 dollars. If it stays at the current valuation too long it will get delisted so there is a chance it gets shot up above $4 in an effort to keep the ship afloat.

Tupperware had warned in its earning release that it had identified weakness in internal control over financial reporting and that it expected to restate prior financials.

On Friday, it said that once it finalizes its 10-K annual report, which is now late, that the numbers announced in March would differ significantly from the restated numbers. It expects to file the 10-K with the Securities and Exchange Commission in the next 30 days.

The brand and the company are separate things. When TUP goes bankrupt someone will come and and buy the brand for pennies, continue selling Tupperware, and shareholders get nothing.
