it's going up again, hope you got in while you could anon.
there is massive political and public interest in house prices here going up forever, it'd be insane to bet against housing.

Dunno where that anon is but same thing here. Southern regional NSW and houses just sitting on the market with no one interested in buying so they have to drop the prices.

Could just be where I am though.

Sold last month to move money into other markets. All I need to do is outperform the housing market and that's easy since the yield was like 2 percent as a rental. Not only that but I think we will cool off further

No idea but Melbourne is now bigger than Sydney, now that they include Milton in their zoning. Danimir Putlews is expanding west and I as a South Australian do not like it. That doesn't really have anything to do with your thread but it's what was on my mind.

>> No.54678647

Politicians will let housing prices crash when homeowners represent less than 50% of the population.

They can't be bargained with. They can't be reasoned with. They don't feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And they absolutely will not stop... ever, until you are broke.

>> No.54678649

>>54678615
If they include Melton, they might as well include Geelong...

About this, The home ownership rate of 30–34 year old’s was 64% in 1971, decreasing 14 percentage points to 50% in 2021. For Australians aged 25–29, the difference was similar – 50% in 1971, compared with 36% in 2021.

So, getting close to pollies pulling the pin.

It's completely fucked. The governments over the last few decades did everything they could to allow boomers to either pay off, or get close enough to paying off their houses before allowing the interest rates to skyrocket. No young person will own their own home without inheriting, or through new money.

My property settled yesterday, heart of a Aus capital city CBD with all the facilities I need. Apartment Gym is literally better than my previous club gym.
Bought off the plan before borders opened back up so apartment has gone up $100,000 in value. Will sell in 12 months for capital gain discount.
So much rentoid seething in this thread, it is literally exactly what I want to read this week after settlement. Enjoy the rental increpases and 100 person Property inspections kek

reminder that if your boomer grandparents or even parents don't already own their own home in Australia, it means they were the dumbest, most stupidest nigger brained dumbass in the world. Australia was easy mode for 50 years between 1950 and 2000.

All my grandparents own their place

My parents had a paid off house since the mid 1990s, but in the 2010's they decided use all the equity in their house to open a business which failed, so they were forced to sell their house and started renting.

I genuinely can't imagine being retarded enough to gamble my primary dwelling. I see my house as a vital organ, something I need to survive - not fucking equity. More than that, they fuck things generationally by stuffing you out of an inheritance/being able to save by living at home.

Glad some other anons get it. Was worried this thread was just seething rentoids that are NGMI
I work in an industry closely related with trends in interest rates and the housing market and I can assure you that buying this year in 2023 is the best thing someone can do.
Part of the problem is Australian buy into the “I must buy a home not an apartment, but housing is so expensive so I am going to buy in whoop whoop” but that’s a flawed mentality as those areas can be subject to rapid property value changes which will quickly push you into negative equity and from there you are fucked for years potentially.
My advice for other anons, buy off the plan, close to CBD and then wait for property to go up in value at completion (which will be two years with current construction industry delay) and either sell or move in love for 12 months then sell or use equity to buy cheaper investment property.

Ive gone NEET for the last year and my mate's dad has been taunting me by asking if Ive got a job yet. Last week I had enough and countered with "you got a house yet?". Literally went silent and walked out of the room. Imagine growing up through the final age of affordable housing and fucking it up. Not even one property. This is a 52 year old that has worked full time for 37 years.
