25yr old neet failed trader here trying to get my life back together, I am entering my sophomore year of computer science and I need to prepare to get an internship next summer, I want to work on some projects for my portfolio, so want advice since I know there a lot of software engineers on here

Right now I just know python basics but gonna try to learn github and django web development, I'm thinking I make a few websites and then send my github to recruiters, I think an internship in a big city like NYC would be cool.

What would some projects that would catch the eye of recruiters?

Maybe some shitty mobile game?

How about a mobile app that lets high schoolers see their chances for various colleges, could be easy to make and could potentially get a lot of downloads

Django was the first web framework I learned but it's very opinionated and very overkill for most applications. If I were to start over today I'd use Go for backend purposes and React for frontends. React + Django is a good combo once Django is second nature but there is a steep learning curve. Good luck anon!

The market is saturated right now anon. You really need to set yourself apart somehow. Building something that people actually use would be huge. Be different somehow. Having projects on your resume no longer means shit since literally everyone else has this. Also, if you have to ask "what projects" you are lacking passion and creativity. I know you're not that much of an NPC if you use these boards. Wake the fuck up and get your shit together. Also, join Blind.

It's really not in the grand scheme of things. It's your run of the mill MVC serverside framework like Rails. It's a pretty simple model you are just a retarded frog poster that sucks dick on the weekends.

Software devs jobs are a huge bubble that is currently popping
Only so many algos or programs needed for a company, then its simple maintenance
Look into project management instead
I hope you can communicate well

>how to get compsci internship?
Travel back in time to last year when companies were hiring kids right out of college and giving them six figure salaries.
Now they're firing everyone and freezing hiring.
You're already too late, OP.
The train has already left the station.
