Unironically. Shorts are there to hedge your bets, not a get rich quick scheme. Piece of shit cars from the 1980s that are still in good condition bring incredible prices at auction. A Ford Pinto in decent shape with low miles can bring 20k at auction or a 1996 911 can bring 300k. Why? Short supply.
