I don't think you understand how interest rates work. You raise them when there is inflation. When there is no more inflation you start lowering them again. This has been the modern US fiscal policy for a long time. There is no reason for it to stop here. Too much growth is already being stagnated due to high rates. We need capital to flow freely again which means low rates near 0%.

Jesus, what a beautiful shot.

To those that think Powell will cut rates this year... what? You do realize he is looking at the core inflation right? And that has been pretty much fixed at 5% for the longest time. Rates have proven to be inefficient to combat the core inflation (for relatively obvious reasons).
Of course, electricity (which is a huge factor of CPI but excluded from core) fell but that was expected to be honest. Food continues its march. PPI down while core inflation remains the same... I wonder why, hmm?
In other words, inflation that matters hasn't seen a meaningful decrease in almost 2 years now. There is no way in hell he cuts.
Then again Powell is a bureaucrat and as such cannot be trusted or predicted by mere humans.
There is a good reason that bull runs of the last three years have been so huge, and that reason is inflation. If the rates truly were effective and the FED actually did their job to protect the people from inflation, stocks would barely fuckin move.
Damn is my copper moving

I think not until employment cracks. Even if inflation keeps trending lower the Fed won't cut until the unemployment rate starts trending up. The Fed has repeatedly said that they are willing to overtighten to avoid the risk of an inflation resurgence. If they start cutting with a hot labor market then they risk wage increases causing more inflation

A stake in the future profits of a business. How does that business make money? Employees perform labor.
For every employee working, they're paying taxes, they're paying into social security.

It's the same shit. The US is a business. It's the ultimate business. In the end, as long as a population exists and people are willing to put time and effort into performing labor in hopes of a better tomorrow, the system will continue.
But in the end when you really think about it, it's all kind of bullshit. What even is a dollar?

In the sense that there's no credit risk, yes. There is currency risk though, obviously. Apple's bonds share that same currency risk, as does anything denominated in fixed terms of dollars.

It would require a constitutional amendment to allow the US to default on it's debts. Such an action would effectively be a currency rebasing, a redenomination. That would have such wide ranging impacts that it would either cause such sudden deflation that Apple bonds would also be blown up and the economy would no longer function, or it would include legislation to rebase all such derivative products to the point where the change really has no impact at all except to say that products you're buying cost pennies and dollars again, instead of thousands. There can be some benefit to keeping numbers small.

My original point is that the dollar itself is pure fiat, a fact which seems lost on you. It only has "value" in the sense that someone down the line from you will accept it in transaction and offer you some good/service in return, but there is no guarantee of how much you'll get from that exchange. It relies on faith.

We've done that before. Multiple times. The latest was in August 1971.

You're right that so far dollar bonds have been made whole, that's the magic of fiat and printing. But you need to think like the Federal government of the 2030s, 2040s, and 2050s. And default is a weapon you can use against political enemies, one that looks extremely tempting on short timeframes.

No. Only time holding JEPI makes sense is a crab market. Even then, you're better off buying the lows and selling the highs of the range.
In a bear market it generally can be expected to lose less than SPY, but you'd be better off holding cash.
Across combined market environments over longer timeframes, it'll generally underperform.

Also the 10% yield is not qualified div. You'll pay full short term gains rates if holding in a regular account.
