i find this chart misleading. this may be true for the dow jones or some computed measure, computed from multiple stocks. many companies from the 19th century arent around anymore. some were frauds, some were outcompeted by other companies, or they had a spike in the beginning and were flat ever after and all kinds of other shit.
if you buy stocks you can still lose money even if you have super diamond hands. holding an ETF of the dow jones is a different thing though. this might actually give you pic related.
