Should you decide to do it OP, I have one recommendation. Go to the HIGHEST ranked school that you can get into. Spare no expense, taking out government loans if you even have to. I did my first master's at a regional school and it had zero effect on my career prospects. Then I got an MS degree from a top institution (Public Ivy and #1 school in my state) and the job I got after that nearly tripled my take home pay.

Your other option is to go into business for yourself. This will be more work than a master's but MUCH more payout. If you don't work enough though, your return will be zero or even negative.

In such case, Engineer to MBA is always a good path and especially for your age. The average MBA student is older. You are probably in the right age group for it. I still STRONGLY recommend going to the highest ranked school you can get into.

the school id go to isnt anything prestigious but its probably not bad, its a good stem degree its about energy and the environment and stuff you know,
