Semiconductors are the most cyclical of all tech stocks. They always crash the only question is when. Of course they always rise from the ashes too but by that time everybody who went down with the ship has already capitulated losing their money. Then a new meme requiring fresh silicon starts anew and the cycle repeats. Remember semis had an 18 year time span between new highs between 2000 and 2018. It could easily happen again and the more meteoric the rise the bigger the crash is likely to be

>For what reason will nvidia crash?
That's just how it works, anon. When the market is euphoric and there's a meme that's been working it's easy to believe the prices will remain on a permanently high plateau because why wouldn't they? People get greedy, they lever up, the bubble inflates far beyond any fundamental justification of price. If I had a crystal ball I could tell you exactly why and when the crash will happen but I don't so I can't. I do know one thing though. It's coming and this time is not different. That's not to say you're going to lose all your money though. Getting out is easy, just pick an exit strategy and wait for it to trigger. Could be SOX going under the 200 day moving average, could be a new low more than 4 day's average true range below the previous high, could be a volatility trigger, maybe when VIX futures are in backwardation. Pick your poison, they all work. Just don't hold and hope when the inevitable happens because even if it comes back, imagine how much better off you'd be if you sold near the top then bought back in near the bottom rather than holding the whole time

>receive $30 000 if call gets assigned, this is a (max) profit of $1,428. that is a profit of 5% or annualized 6.3%
>break even for msft is 285.72
I am mostly cash right now, earning low interest and having T-bills but this seems like a better strategy because the yield is higher than T-bills and it also gives me an entry point for when the stock slips, i.e. if the call expires worthless I will have essentially bought msft at $285.72 which I would like because when the market is dipping you will always think ''it will go even lower'' so you never end up pulling the trigger and get left behind with your cock in your hand.

Covered calls is the same trade as a short put at the same strike and expiration. By going with the short puts instead the trade is simpler since you you don't have to both buy shares *and* sell the option. The only downside is the possibility of early assignment but that's rare and even if it occurred you'd just be in the shares which is where you would have been anyway had you did the covered call in the first place. Also, with some brokers the short put is more efficient since it requires less margin
>>58268843
The main difference between LS and ToS is LS has much better locates on hard to borrow stocks. If you want to make a real strategy out of shorting penny stock pump and dumps then ToS isn't really going to work. Lightspeed is a direct access broker too so for example if you wanted to short VVPR in pre-market and you noticed a lot of shares are on ARCA but not a lot on NSDQ if you then explicitly choose ARCA as the exchange to route the order to the order will execute quite a few milliseconds quicker. I wouldn't really compare LS to ToS, the better comparison is with Cobra, Centerpoint, and TradeZero, brokers that specialize in very active trading and hard to borrow shorting. ToS is more comparable to Fidelity, Webull, etc. Payment for order flow brokers with free trading but slower executions and less ability to short HTB stocks

Everything points to that it will. No one else has the technology they have and there's an insane increase in demand for what they provide. They have a vision far into the future like no one else has. Unless they fuck everything completely up, I don't see why they won't stay dominant in their market far into the future.
I've never claimed that I know exactly what will happen. I just factor in a lot of trends and say it looks like it's going up.

What if you're wrong though and you haven't actually factored everything in? You don't have a track record so presumably you gained this amazing ability to forecast stock performance 5 years into the future just recently. What if.. bear with me.. what if you're just irrationally exuberant? What if this time isn't actually different and NVDA doesn't miraculously defy all odds and just goes right along with the rest of the market when it takes its next inevitable swan dive? I know what you're thinking, you'll just buy more. Okay but how many buy mores do you have in you if NVDA goes down -50%, -60%, -75%, -90% like it's done repeatedly in the past and stays down for years and years at a time? What are you gonna do? Here, let me help you. You will capitulate and sell, likely close to the bottom. Whatever you think your risk tolerance is, I guarantee you it's lower and probably by a lot. So, humor me, if NVDA plummets what do you plan on doing? And if the answer is buy more, what if it plummets more? Just for the sake of argument, what is your exit strategy

I haven't factored everything in. That's impossible.
But I know that there are no one else on the market that can offer what they have. There's an increase in demand for what they offer, so the chances are low that they're going to crash hard and go out of business.
My exit strategy is to look at the demand for what they provide and see if it's going up or down. If demand goes up, its a buy signal regardless of a drop-off in price. If demand goes down, it's a sell signal regardless of the price.
Right now the demand is drastically increasing every month and I have a hard time imagining when the demand should decrease. I don't see the demand taper off for the next 20 years. New players might come on the field but Nvidia is the strongest player as for now and I don't see any reasonable competition within the next 10 years.

What happens when despite people continuing to buy their products the price still goes down. This happens all the time. MSFT had huge and growing demand for their products yet the price stagnated for a decade and a half. Using product demand to dictate your opinion on price is a terrible strategy. Why not just cut out the abstraction and go straight to price. Instead of selling when demand for the product softens, why not rely on price to tell you when to get in and out. As long as price rises, you stay in, when price falls you get out. That way you can avoid divergent signals and getting your account rekt

Did you make the calculations or are you going by gut feeling? There are formulas to calculate the intrinsic value of a company. All of them take future development into account to arrive at a fair value of the individual stocks. It's to make companies comparable with each other and to give a little bit of structure to speculating future values. Look up the formulas, find out a realistic number of growth that you believe nvidia can achieve consistently over time and see how far the price deviates from what it currently is.

The earnings trend is really the only tool you can use to reliably predict the price of a stock in the long term to any degree. It doesn't follow 100% and in some cases it doesn't reflect very well. But over all you'll be better off relying on earnings trends, because they follow to a high degree in the long run in the vast majority of cases and you can reasonably predict earnings if you know the industry well.

I sold some puts that are dangerously close to being ITM and I'd rather they not get exercised.

Nothing reliably predicts the price of a stock in the long term also you're not trading product demand. That metric is not listed on the exchange. You are trading price. Since demand is not directly correlated to stock price and it's the price that you are actually trading, why not use that as the signal to buy and sell?

>Did you make the calculations or are you going by gut feeling?
You only really have your gut feeling when you're talking about the future growth of a company's earnings. That's why you need to know the industry really well, and shouldn't buy anything you don't fully understand. Because what do you do if it goes up a lot? or goes down a lot? You need to know the underlying factors at play.
You have to rely on a lot of different observations and factor them into your risk assessment.
>Look up the formulas, find out a realistic number of growth that you believe nvidia can achieve consistently over time and see how far the price deviates from what it currently is.
Yes. This way you can assess when it's time to buy more or maybe move some capital to another stock that's undervalued based on your overall assessment.
