It started because of social anxiety. I hate the idea of someone talking to me and saying "Hey, those clothes look nice", as if I had consciously bought better clothes in order to fit in. So instead I wear the exact same clothes over and over, and no one comments on it probably because they know it looks like shit, and because they probably think I don't care. I do care to an extent; I've seen many things indicating that wearing Quiksilver t-shirts past high school is literally the most creepy and unfashionable thing one can do. However, having descended so far I actually take pride in it now. My backpack is worn out and has carved holes on the left shoulder of all my shirts. Many of them have deodorant stains. A couple are still bleached around the collar from when my mom would force me to use some kind of peroxide wash for my acne. At this point it's a source of pride, it defines me.
