You borrow coins, so if you short something at 10x leverage using 1,000 USD you are betting that the price will go down. Say if the price goes up 5% you lose half your money. If it goes up 10% or higher you get liquidated and lose all your money. However if it goes down 5% you get 50% percent profit and if it goes down 10% you double your profit. If it goes down 20% you 3x your money and so on.

>> No.9473444

>>9473382
Well how the fuck do you "borrow" coins?
Also binance and gdax don't support to use a lever in your transaction right?

>> No.9473511

>>9473444
Binance doesn't and GDAX used to but not anymore. You borrow them from either the exchange (like bitmex) or other users (polo used to do this, I think they still do) for interest.

>> No.9473542

>>9473511
Well then I understand it I guess, just never saw a possibility to "borrow".
Maybe for the better, gonna stay with binance/gdax.

I don't get how anyone even trusts bitmex to short or long. They probably manipulate the market to fuck their own customers positions since they see every one

What's stopping a guy just taking out a huge ass loan, then gambling it on Bitmex. Then if they win big they pay off the loan and if they lose they just declare bankruptcy?

>> No.9473776

>>9471635
Actually around 0.3 %.

Supposed to be 1% if you straight up go with the formula: Entry - (Entry/Leverage) for a long.

>> No.9473832

>>9471540

This. But OP wont deliver because he's not smart enough to make this call, nor does he have enough connections.

I'm in an investing group with friends and we sometimes manipulate alts, but never Bitcoin. You need big money for manipulating top 10 coins...on multiple exchanges. Very hard.
