fucking stupid as fuck

The people high up earning big salarys worked their ass off to get to that point. They didn't spend their days posting on facebook and twitter (donald trump is an exception) they spent their days with their fucking nose in a book and their mind focused on their goals and doing good at whatever they do.

If i need heart surgery or i am going to die I don't mind paying that doctor a large chunk of money for saving my life.. I don't mind that the CEO of wellsfargo gets paid millions in salary.. you know why? because the money is safe in the bank and i can transfer it back and forth between places (brokerages, exchanges, people) and have trust that the corporation will keep my money safe because they get paid to do that and manage all of that.

People that think someone that gets paid too much is an obvious fucking entitled retard that never works hard but only complains about the people that worker harder than them.

Don't worry about you neighbors grass.. worry about your own and make it the best you can. Its basic economics when it comes to your mental and physical energy (scarcity, absolute advantage, opportunity cost) If these fucking losers put as much time into building up their life as they did building up their fucking twitter, facebook, instagram profile maybe they would be making good money too

How would paying workers more and leaders less help the following:
- price of food
- price of health care
- price of shelter
- price of education
- price of transportation

?

People who make 100x or 1000x the wage of the people at the bottom are not eating 100x or 1000x as much food, driving 100x or 1000x as much, in need of 100x or 1000x surgeries (though they may actually be able to afford them), or getting 100 or 1000 college degrees per person.

You just pay the people at the bottom more and that money will go directly into purchasing more basic goods, raising prices.

If we want to make a better world for the people at the bottom, we have to increase the supply of those things. Not increase the amount of purchasing power of those who demand them- prices will simply adjust until the amount of those things produced and distributed is in equilibrium with the amount of dollars demanded of them, which is still going to leave people hungry, uneducated, unhoused, lacking medical care, etc.

You can't get around the problem of there not being enough stuff for everyone by tossing more dollars in the crowd so more people can compete for the same limited amount of stuff. If the amount of stuff doesn't change much, then the number of winners and losers won't change much. You just have to have more stuff.

Payment not about the amount of work done, it's about how replaceable an employee is. Employment wages are no different than any other bargain done in a store or market. One party is buying, another is selling. A person earning higher pay means that he has a skill in demand, and can command a salary that high in any other negotiation. The highest paid members of working society are the ones with the most leverage, the rarest skills. Those with very few licenses and very high utility (doctors, lawyers, engineers).

The same holds true in warehouses. Any able-bodied can work in a warehouse, but not everyone is licensed to operate a forklift or other heavy machinery. Those employees can demand a raise, since they are not as easily replaced. The idea that employees are paid in a way that reflects the bottom and top or some other obscure way of valuing someones skillset is beyond retarded. The labor market works the same way as any other market, with it's own set of buyers and sellers of labor (1099 vs. W2, benefits vs. higher pay, sick time, health insurance, etc).

It's not, though.

Fuck you money is by definition the amount of savings / assets you need to say fuck you to your boss and quit your job and not need to worry about working to keep your lifestyle.

If you want a $30k/yr poverty lifestyle, "fuck you money" means having $1 million accumulated.

$350k of income means you likely make $175k after taxes. If you save $100k of that per year, you can save up $1M in like 7-14 years, depending on what happens to your savings as you toss it in the stock market.

Except, if you're making $350k/yr in Manhattan, $1M isn't fuck you money, because you probably don't want to move to bumfuck Montana and raise your family on $30k/yr after working 7-14 years.

They get a shinier apartment, medical care, and better food, but the real key is, the person living a shitty life on $30k/yr will have to work forever, while the people making $350k/yr will have the option of giving all that up to live like $30k person - but no longer work - after about a decade.

You make it sound like they are two equal people who just happen to be making different amounts of money, as if its some arbitrary number pulled out of a hat during the hiring process.

Those who are closer to having a monopoly on their high-utility labor can command these high 6-figure salaries. Those who have relevant experience, who know and understand an industry, and are competent people may even be eligible for multimillion-dollar C-level jobs, to essentially be working on the bridge of the ship that is the large corporation.

A) being a ceo is very difficult. My father was a CEO for awhile and it’s hard.

B) if the salary of a ceo was capped it’d be impossible for corporations to compete for good ceos. If you’ve ever invested in a Corp you know how valuable it can be when they get a good ceo.

A CEO isn’t doing more work, they are there to take the blame and are easily replaceable. They are paid high because they have an incentive to push the company forward. Joe blow photo copying papers could careless but at least he has a job regardless for the most part what the ceo does.

though I agree with OP's sentiments mostly, I agree being a CEO is hard. I don't think CEO's getting paid alot is the problem so much is that the entire economic culture is perversely slanted toward an obsession with rising profits year after year at any expensive. When your companies entire ethos can be boiled down to never having a year where profits decline, you get an unsustainable system like what we have now. Will Apple get to $1 Trillion before the overdue economic downturn takes place?

Funny enough, if they did step into those shoes, who knows, some of them might actually be quite good at it.

Well... Jeff Bezos didn't "drive the human race forward", his entire company including thousands of employees did. And they didn't do it to progress humanity, they're just trying to create a dominate business.

Companies that turn profits have just as much opportunity to help humanity as they do plunge it into darkness. I don't get why this vague economic religion rose up among young people in the last half a decade that essentially boils down to the belief that wealth = moral goodness and is indicative of someone with good character who is helping the world. It's not always the case and many of the rich people you've listed have done questionable things and those companies are taking turns for the worse in many ways.

The rich people spend a lot of it on luxury shit and services that costs a lot of work hours to produce, and many of the people making that luxury shit and those luxury services are also paid very high amounts of money that they in turn spend on luxury services and luxury shit, though slightly less luxurious.

This all takes away productivity in the economy that could be used for other things (like non luxury products and services for common workers) to satisfy these high earner's wants.

If there is a simultaneous reduction in spending power among the rich and an increase of spending power in the poor, then production will increase for products and services for the poor, cannibalizing the production capacity portion of the economy used for services and products for the rich.

The middle class is ideologically possessed to fight against each other and they've been manipulated into doing so.

People've collectively forgotten how fast the Occupy movement was dismantled and replaced with fake outrage movements like third wave feminists and racial diversity initiatives. Occupy was actually a threatening movement, but these other ones are designed to have nothing to do with the real failings of the economy, but to get the lower classes to fight amongst each other. White vs Black, Atheist vs Christian, Male vs Female, Straight vs Gay, but never Rich vs Poor. I'm old enough to remember when the poor kept the rich somewhat vaguely in check through political influence, but now we have the poor masses worshiping wealth creation as proof of moral goodness and defended religiously.

Now we have young people on /pol/ not taking care of themselves, having fun, etc, but sitting in their corner of the site obsessing over snippets of news and feeling rage inside their hearts while they watch the world spin without them, their anger directed at invisible enemies when the people who've robbed them of opportunity are right infront of their eyes (the least of which isn't themselves.) Wasting their young.

That's not how it works at all anon, that's how delusional boomers think it is but it's not.
If you work hard in some discipline you will make good money but the real big money (ie: not your local practicing lawyer, doctor or shop owner) is inherited and is consolidating since more than a century.

Wealth disparity will keep augmenting anyway until an event "resets" the whole thing and another cycle begins, simply because dumb people will always mismanage their ressources while smart people will make the most of it.

The real issue is that we have too many dumb people on the planets and we badly need eugenics policies.

Yeah, you're right.

I just believe the rich vs poor mentality of the 2 party system kept us in check well in the past as far better in the past. I think it was purposefully transformed by both parties colluding together to turn us from economic politics to identity/social politics to where "Liberal" became a dirty word. When they suceeded in doing that, next was to dismantle progressive taxes and implant a free-market religion-like ideology into susceptible people is what I'm personally upset about.

The depression wasn't even that bad when he got elected, he just made it much worse.

He put in crazy interventionist policies that destroyed the economy and impoverished Americans for over 10 years.

We only got out of the depression AFTER WW2 when we dramatically cut taxes, spending and most of his retarded regulations.

Well it's actually a complex topic and a one-size-fits-all approach doesn't really do it any justice. It was actually pretty bad when FDR became president and alot of that is laid at the feet of Coolidge and Hoover, so it doesn't really fit this narrative you got going on.

If you want to see what FDR-like policies looked like as an experiment, you should look at post-war Japan, where much of Japanese politics are still heavily influenced from the liberal policies of the administration at that time. The pros and cons of that are kind of too much to discuss here but if you care to delve deeper into that, I think that's a good place to start.

Running multi-billion dollar companies is also one of those situations where every bit of talent matters.

If you've got ten potential CEOs who make the right decision 70% of the time, but one potential CEO who makes the right decision 75% of the time, that little difference is worth hundreds of millions of dollars.

Bullshit
Both of these people, Hoover especially were massive economic interventionists.
Their policies along with the loose policies of the federal reserve created the bubble and the resulting mess later.

AHAHAHAHAHA
First off FDR wasn't a liberal.
He was against economic liberalism, against economic freedom. He used massive state control over the economy which choked and stagnated it.

Secondly, Japan used FREE MARKET policies to build their country after ww2.
They embraced markets and that's why they are so rich.
Inb4 you talk about their state infrastructure investments or something.
