HFT traders love the data because 90% of you retards lose money on the trade, so they take the data and take on an opposite position. Pretty important. I'd say, for me and my strategy specifically, it's 80% TA and 20% doing research to know when catalysts for pumps (good news releases etc) are likely or rumored to happen. As a swing trader you must also have at least a tiny amount of confidence in a company so you reasonably assume that you aren't going to get dumped on with a bad news release/scandal/cease trade order. Day traders can take the risk skipping the research as they are unlikely to get blindsided by that on an intraday trade. Swing traders cannot.

It's not luck, a very known investor (I forgot who) once said "the mere fact it's at a new high tells you something".

It's a simple matter of trends and pattern, everytime AMD challenges a new top resistance, it goes through a rising flag pattern and if it breaks once, no pullback it skyrockets up.
It happened at 28.30 so I opened at 28.40 and next day we are at 29.90.

It keeps happening, if it broke many days the ATH and keeps going it "tells you something".

This is a silly question, but if I set a stop loss when I bought would that stop loss go through if the price falls during after hours? When I bought SNAP it went up a dollar that night and went negative before the market opened the next day, would the stop loss have saved me by trading hours?
