You seem very new here so here's a word of advice - tread carefully & don't believe everything you read on biz. Everyone here knows that links mainnet isn't going to be released in 2018 & what that means in layman's terms is that the price is going to continue on its current downward trend for at least another 4 months. If I were you I'd put your money in something more stable & safe like ETH for the moment. I'm a 30yo boomer brainlet who can't into programming and coding too but I just built my second computer and I'm certain that It's easy enough to learn the basics to running a node, especially with thomas able to assist as well as the whole team making it easier and easier with useful front ends.

With the insane profit potential of running a node with high collateral, it might just be worth it to take a week off and use the time to set up a node when mainnet hits or right before. $20k in link is a lot on the pyramid, so be as smart as possible with it because the future potential is too high to hand jam or risk paying someone else to do it for you.
