It looks like today's strength in the dude weed was mainly due to the credible rumors that Altria (big tobacco) is considering buying a stake in Aphria. Aphria flew up somewhere in the neighborhood of 20% today before pulling back to +15% at close. ACB and WEED held steady, both were in the green for much of the day and closed at modest fraction of 1% loss each.

I believe this strength under highly bearish overall market conditions indicate the dude weed sector will indeed break new ATH before the end of the year. These market troubles are only going to temporarily delay the moon shots. October 17th sell off may not occur as expected. If the news is long line ups and supply shortages for day one sales, sector will pump on that news.

okay newbie question. I currently possess a twitter put option with expiration date of 10/12. Got it through robinhood, paid $0.68/share and have 100 shares (i.e., 1 contract total). Its a good prediction of your sell profit based on the mid, usually its only off a cent or two.

I try to trade based on high IV (sell options at high vega and plan on a return to mean), but if you're trading delta then its good to do put or call spreads within a good SD range, anything with above 65% probability of profit is a good gamble if you're sold on the direction of the underlying.

Fast drops bounce, anon. Every time. It's one of the most consistent phenomena in stock trading. Fast hard drops hold support unless the company is going bankrupt or something. The less certain thing is whether or not it's an early signal of trend reversal. That I don't know.

I've been working on a news/real politik indicator as Ichimoku w/pivots has been working really well but I want to see if I can make it more specific by feeding it more data. I did not have this deployed for the last few weeks. On Oct 3 I had an intraday short scalp. The following day I closed longs and went full bear. This is the notable day as Ichimoku turned bearish and support break on pivots really did not look well. I closed a small portion of position the following day as it appeared there may be a bounce off the cloud. I have remained bearish since. I am expecting a bounce tomorrow based on ichi and bond yields. 10y is resting on a pivot currently. If it bounces there will be more pain in equities.

The biggest thing I learned from this is to look at bonds more closely. Ichi indicated a bond bull run on Sept 10, well in advance equity troubles. You can clearly see equities market bull run slow down in response to this.

US economy is strongest in the world right now, don't let chink dumping scare you into doubting.

Yes, but the idea is that General Motors is much more diversified, and has a valuable self-driving unit they might even spin off if they get into trouble. Ford only makes decent money on their pickups, which are basically cars hicks buy but don't need, that's one of the reasons they are at such a low P/E. Any investor can see the risks there. Most of the top hedge fund managers & even Buffett are holding General Motors over Ford. The risk/return is much better.

Ideally if you can lever up this portfolio you can outperform the SP500 on a risk adjusted basis, but issues are that during recessions, you might find it difficult to keep levered up because regulations on the exchanges. Investors like Warren Buffett do similar things where they minimize their portfolio risk and buy investments on margin, but they can't get margin called. Warren Buffett owns GEICO through Berkshire, so he can borrow insurance float and lever up his portfolio by an extra 100-150 billion, without ever being asked to return the money.
