Most of their debt is not due until 2020-2022

the difference is longs don't have a time frame and aren't paying interest on their borrowed shares... Shorts do have a time frame and are paying interest on borrowed shares.. If anyone is trapped right now it's the shorts.. they haven't covered for a reason.. they need shares.. those shares are being held by institutions that probably aren't going to be taking a loss that size knowing the short interest.

What's your average cost? Saw some stats on StockTwits that Dept of Energy grants are awarded at about a 40% rate to valid applications. There's rumors LTBR fucked up and got all the necessary work in late and won't be up for a yes/no this month.

I would urge to get some money out near your average, basically just delever. The last two patent announcements did jack shit in the grand scheme of things, it's not dying but it doesn't have the same fight it used to right now. You can put in some lowball limit buys and try to catch the next dump if you have more faith.
