You sometimes come across these casual post, postulating that 4chan has an immense influence on internet culture, which sometimes spill over into "real life".

How does this work? what are the inherent limits of it? .. and can we profit from it?

>> No.11671481

It works only as long as you're not aware of it.

when a daddy loves a mommy very much, he urinates in her rectum and she poo poos the pee pee in the loo. A stork ingests the raw sewage and barfs a flaming bag of poops on the front door stem for the daddy to stomp out and tha's how 4chans are made.

It's a special website because you can go make a thread pretending to be a 17 year old Canadian dropout, even if you're a 27 year old French hairdresser. You can come up with an idea, throw it in the face of 20 anonymous others, see how "the others" react and tune it or throw that idea away completely. You can argue in an extreme fashion for one thing, and then go on and argue for the other extreme just 30 minutes later, and play with perspectives. You can read what other people thing.
4chan has shaped current culture in an essential way. The formats of conveying information, say on facebook or instagram, is a derivative of inventions such as cat memes, or internet memes in general. And yes, meme magic is real.

I've often thought about ways to profit off of 4chan, but there are a few problems:
>the average 4channer isn't financially well off (/biz/ might be the exception, but think of /b/, /mu/, /pol/... mostly demented poorfags)
>4chan's response to almost everything is to instantly hate it, so if you tried to shill/advertise on here it would most likely backfire
>most things that "do well" on 4chan are reviled and hated by the majority of society, so even if you win over a few 4channers, you still lose

It'd be a tough sell. 4chan is definitely responsible for a lot of current pop culture though, but it's shit that starts here and is then adopted and bastardized by normans.

4chan is one of the primary hubs of creativity from which other ideas are derived and then watered down and distributed within other systems. All of the best minds are drawn and eventually find their way here because it, along with the other chans, stands alone as a beacon for unrestricted expression and free speech.

There are two types of people right now. Ones who read and ones who dont read. Never before could information travel so fast to a bunch of INFJs. When we are able to gain real power we will find each other, and we'll already be groomed and on, the same plan. Never in history has this happened

The way to profit is to make an image board that allows pseudonymous tiping.
Then take a tiny percentage of all transactions to maintain the website part of which is your pay

It would be superior to 4chan because it would incentivise worthwhilr discussion
How many times have you come across a golden nugget of info on 4chan, there's a percentage of people who would gladly sent a buck for decent info

You could even tokenize each board and create markets between different categories
/Biz token vs /pol token for example. The price would be dependent on demand which would be proportional to interest in the board

>A very densely packed set of ideas get introduced by a user or a group of users. At first, only people that browse and post every day are the only ones to get it.
Step 2: More posters use/reference it until the more casual people that post just a bit find it. They know just enough to understand it, and turn it into the well-known digestible form: a "meme". At this the point the idea is still tightly packed, but it lost some substance in the transformation from a complex discussion topic to a .png.
Step 3: Your average browser knows just enough to understands the meme. They make their own memes, now only knowing the previous memes (not the original idea), distilling it even further.
Step 4: It is now at the point when r/4chan users can get it, so they do the same. They screenshot the memes created in step 3 until it becomes kinda popular and then they attempt to make their own. At this point, the meme is mostly water weight, but the main concepts can still be distinguished.
Step 5: Absolute mainstream: Reddit distributes the meme everywhere. It catches on because even in this 99.9% water weight form, the meme still has more substance than whatever the fuck is getting produced everywhere else (THANOS CAR XDDDDDDD) so it easily hooks the average joe, who is used to consuming memes so empty they barely register.

That's how it works. If you want a simplification, imagine that an amateur Chef with some talent makes a steak. and then goes to Africa to pass it around. After a long flight, the steak is now cold and stiff, but the oxygen-diet Africans can't help but be absolutely amazed at the steak they have been given, and they go crazy. Going around, village to village, telling people about the steak.

holy shit you guys are fucking deluded. litreally nothing of value has ever been posted on this site and we've thrown our lives away. I've easily spent 10,000 hours on this shithole, often spending the whole day from when I wake up until I fall asleep. I honestly can barely recall any of the threads I've ever started or replied to.
