It depends really. Sure family wealth is usually divided over 2 or 3 generations but the opportunities being Old Money provides (connections, prestige, higher education, etc.) usually carries over. Now there are plenty of cases of trust fund faggots pissing away these opportunities and ending up broke too of course.

These are all on you. Pretty easy to get into the Ivy League; just do a little more than no work. From there, have a genuine interest in finance. 50% of the old money kids going into finance can't even do that. Then, network or just show someone working at a BB bank that you aren't boring. That puts you at the top 5%. They'll put in a good word and you have a first-round interview. Those are always really easy. Now, all you have to do is study for a grand total of a 10ish hours and well in the 2nd round interview. Put in your 2 years in IB or S&T then join a hedge fund. Do almost no work, just copy other hedge funds and after a few years of a bull market you start your own fund. Tada, you did it.

It's not so much these things, it's the fact fact that even if you get to do these things, you will always have to play for real and your future will be "on the line", while if you are old money, you can do these things for fun and it is way more relaxed.
Relaxed doesn't mean lazy in this context. It's more a feeling of confidence that you are doing it for your ego and you will be alright if things go wrong.
As old money chad you will be more authentic with the people around you and have a better perspective on life than if you're a nervous poorfag.
