Okay, so I make around 5,000-6,000$ a month, living in a place were rent prices for okay apartments are 1,000-1,100$.

But I think it's alright to splurge and rent one for 1,600-2,000$ to feel more baller, even if it isn't completely rational from a financial perspective.

What does biz think?

If it means you’ll live in a better neighborhood like walkable and lots of close conveniences then yes. Otherwise I would buy at those prices a mortgage is only couple hundred more
